Reddit rolled 'LLM Powered' AutoMod to automatically detect and delete posts that are not following community rules. Going by comments in the post, the required login is coming in waves, so not all people may notice immediately. Still, as Reddit is strong-arming its way across, maybe worth signaling to people there that the fediverse may be used without an account, so long as there's even one instance that implements logged-out view as the protocol allows it? I don't have access to my account any longer, possibly VPN ban, though I never tried to recover it so I can only guess why mine is lost, else I'd post myself.

I haven't used #Reddit in a whole bunch of years, but I'm wondering if I should start looking at a #Fediverse version of Reddit and which ones are out there right now. I think I read somewhere that they could connect to #Mastodon Maybe that'll be my digging around project for this afternoon

If anyone wants to get off reddit and mass delete their history beforehand (reddit makes deleting history impossible and profits off your post/comment history that trains ai), I highly recommend "Powersuite Delete" instead of "redacted". Using RSS for subreddits is an interesting way to see just how many posts are deleted by moody mods for no apparent reason. Or how brigaded and manufactured fan subs are - lots of robust delusional echo chambers. Although the new rate limiting for RSS is atrocious. If, for some strange reason, you find yourself browsing Reddit without logging in (say, to get a quick update on a local tragedy that somehow the media has signally failed to incisively investigate) you will soon see an "upsell dialog" pop up, blocking scrolling and browsing to force you to log in or create an account. Przed urlopem (jakoś na przełomie czerwca i lipca) kupiłem rewelacyjny produkt, który od jakiegoś czasu jest viralem na #Reddit - #czytnik #ebook'ów #Xteink X4. To mały czytniczek, który z Chin (#Aliexpress) kupiłem za jakieł 230 zł. Trzeba było na nim zmienić soft (na #Crosspoint), bo fabryczny to krzaczki, ale to dosłownie wgranie jednego pliku na kartę pamięci i restart urządzenia. Mieści mi się do nerki, kieszeni, a nawet można go przymocować do telefonu wykorzystując #MagSafe (ma wbudowany w obudowę!). Czyta w zasadzie tylko #epub, ale to mi akurat odpowiada. Jedyne wady jakie znalazłem to brak podświetlenia ekranu (spory minus przy słabym świetle) i wodoodporności (fajnie by było poczytać przy basenie i się nie martwić, że jeden niewłaściwy ruch i po nim). Zaobserowałem też delikatne blaknięcie ekranu na pełnym słońcu, ale to były ektremalne warunki - na plaży przy 35 (niekiedy nawet ponad) stopniach. Teraz wyszedł jego następca X4 Pro, który ma już podświetlenie i ogólnie jest trochę zmieniony (dotykowy ekran, inne ułożenie przycisków, większa bateria itp.). Jednakże kosztuje już 380 zł + cło i w dodatku jest wyprzedany. To już nie tak atrakcyjna cena i raczej ten nowy model się nie przyjmie, ale X4 mogę polecić jak ktoś potrzebuje mieć mały, tani czytnik zawsze przy sobie.
