LEAVING META WITHOUT LEAVING YOUR LIFE 💎 After my posting about Meta over the past two days, one thing became very clear. A lot of people would LIKE to leave Facebook, Instagram, or both. But parts of their actual lives are all tangled up in them. So don’t make leaving a purity test. Start somewhere. Remove Facebook from your phone and use it only on your laptop, or better still, only on your desktop when you genuinely need it. STOP POSTING TO META. STOP FEEDING THE TIMELINE. Move conversations with real friends to your email, text, Signal, phone calls, Mastodon account, or wherever works for you, away from Meta. TELL PEOPLE WHERE ELSE THEY CAN EASILY FIND YOU. If you run a business, start putting your email address and/or website URL everywhere you promote your business so Facebook is not your only front door. Download anything you actually want to keep. Then, when you’re ready, deactivate or delete what you no longer need. Maybe you keep Messenger for Aunt Doris. Maybe you keep Instagram because your local café apparently believes websites were abolished in 2014. Fine. The point isn’t ideological cleanliness. THE POINT IS REDUCING YOUR DEPENDENCE. Every conversation you move elsewhere is one conversation Meta no longer owns the doorway to. YOU DON'T HAVE TO ESCAPE THE META CAGE IN ONE HEROIC LEAP. FACEBOOK IS TOXIC. META IS AWFUL. WHY CONTINUE FEEDING IT? 💎 Nearly everyone complains about Facebook and Meta. The algorithms are toxic. The advertising is invasive. The outrage is manufactured. CHILDREN ARE BEING HARMED. Privacy is disappearing. And then millions of people open Facebook or Instagram. Again. And again. I genuinely do not understand it. If you believe these companies are damaging children, manipulating attention, and making billions from human vulnerability, why are you still giving them your presence? Especially the parents. If Facebook and Instagram are unhealthy for your children, what exactly are you modeling by remaining there yourself? “We know this place is harmful, darling, but Mummy and Daddy have photographs to look at.” I left Meta years ago. I didn’t die. My friends did not evaporate. Civilization continued. There is email. There are phones. THERE IS THE OPEN WEB. There is even the terrifying possibility of seeing another human being, god forbid, in person. Meta survives because people who complain about it continue supplying exactly what it needs: Their attention. Their relationships. Their outrage. THEIR CHILDREN. You do not have to wait for Zuckerberg to become a better person. You can simply leave today. Das hier geht gerade auf #instagram rum. Wie auch immer man zum Aufschneiden von Büchern und dann Scannen in Feedern steht (unfassbar schnell bei perfekter Qualität) - dieses Video dazu ist grober Unfung: der #Treventus -Scanner ist ja gerade berühmt dafür durch die minimale Öffnung maximal schonend zu scannen.

Sono storie informative - e non contenuti creativi monetizzati- da diffondere per volontà stessa dello staff. Rispondono in parte alle molte domande che si fanno anche le persone benintenzionate su SpinTime: non è solo un luogo occupato da bisognosi di una casa, ma un luogo strategico, un modello culturale funzionante abitato da tutta #Roma @Roma

If anyone wants an no frills way to redirect instagram to imginn (privacy alternative anonymous instagram viewer), this is much easier than setting up reverse proxies and in browser redirects, especially if you keep your bookmarks synced.

Save this code as the url of a new bookmark (bookmarklet) and name it something like "Insta Redirect":

Remember when Instagram was SOCIAL? It was about creatives showing off their talents. It was about being in the loop. It was about meeting new people who shared your interests. I deleted Instagram, only use the website version now. I feel so free. My phone is dry AF but worth it. In fact, I've deleted every social media app from my phone. Can't delete the account though — had it since 2010, a lot of fond memories attached to it. #socialmedia #instagram #digitalMinimalism #digitaldetox

Fediverso, haz tu magia. Recientemente mi compañera comenzó gradualmente a dejar de hacer cookies (que antes yo publicaba por acá), pues es un trabajo muy estresante y muy exigente que por la naturaleza de los pedidos, hay que hacerlos tipo maratón sin parar, etc 😓 . El año pasado comenzó a hacer accesorios tipo collares y caravanas para aprovechar su manualidad y creatividad y arrancó con su nuevo emprendimiento en un puesto en la feria de Parque Rodó los domingos 🛍️ . Su marca se llama Miss the Rain y yo me encargué de montar una web con una tienda WooCommerce. Nunca lo había hecho y fue lo que tenía a mano para arrancar. Acá viene el pedido 🙏 . Como recién está arrancando y no tiene muchos seguidores o tráfico en la página, les agradecería a los que tienen cuenta en Instagram, si no le darían una ayudita impulsando o siguiendo la cuenta o ni que hablar, comprandole unos de los productos. Hace envíos a todo el Uruguay por DAC o agencia a cobrar 📦 . Quizá algun día la convenza para que haga una cuenta en Mastodon, pero ahi en Instagram es donde decidió montar su página. Los productos son realmente lindos y los materiales que usa son buenosy bastante seleccionados, incluso algunas cosas las trae de afuera en pedidos de franquicia internacional. Dis Fédi, j'aimerais récupérer automatiquement les posts d'une page #facebook ou un compte #instagram (y compris les nouveaux posts, pas juste un import) pour les publier sur un compte ici, soit sur un serveur qui accepte les posts de plus de 5000 caractères, soit un outil qui permet de faire plusieurs posts à partir d'un seul. Est-ce que c'est possible ? Boosts appréciés, j'aimerais proposer une solution à une amie pour ajouter le meilleur réseau social sans ajouter à sa charge mentale ^^

#Loops objectively has a problem with loud videos. It's very user-hostile to be flipping through quiet scenic videos to have it followed up immediately with an eardrum-splitting attention-seeking noise video, or even a valid artistic video like loud concert. Audio normalization should be built into the app. Also, a way to skip all videos from a particular account without blocking them. I don't want to block accounts that post annoying videos from interacting with me in the comments or whatnot, I just don't ever want to see them in the feed. It's two separate things. Less objectively, and more of a personal opinion, I find it deeply unfortunate that Loops thinks it wise to model their UI/UX on the absolute flaming dogpoop of platforms like #TikTok and #Instagram. Give me a [playhead], for the love of God. Don't make me re-watch the entire bloomin' three-minute video just to re-play a single word I missed. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
