Herne the Hunter is mentioned in William Shakespeare's play "The Merry Wives of Windsor" as the ghost of a gamekeeper who has antlers and haunts Windsor Forest. In Shakespeare's play, Cordelia dies before her father King Lear. However, in British folklore, she outlives him and becomes Britain's ruler. Cordelia is a warrior queen who leads armies. Last night I watched a performance of Macbeth in the courtyard of a 10th century castle, against scenery that would obsolete any stage designer (unless they had a budget that could literally move mountains). #shakespeare

Very proud of my students for their Shakespeare anthology performance. We performed scenes from 6 Shakespeare plays. The back drops were rotatable stage flats that could be changed to set different scenes and all painted by the students (I did the office scene) Who wants to guess which play is in each photo here? It may be St George's Day today, but more importantly for me, as a girl born and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon, it's #Shakespearesbirthday I painted this #map of all the plays of #Shakespeare to commemorate the 400th anniversary of his death, which was also 23 April. #Theatre performance of the year was definitely Kathryn Hunter as #KingLear at the #Globe this summer. And I so nearly didn’t go as I wasn’t in the mood for crowds or… anything really. I had forgotten who was in the title role and couldn’t work out if it was a tiny man…?
