I've setup #syncthing to synchronize my music between my desktop and my android, and run deadbeef on the desktop and vinyl music player on my phone. No more ai-infested #spotify for me! #noai #nollm

Reading about this #Bitwarden / #Vaultwarden issue has me feeling smug about my much simpler #Syncthing / #KeePass setup. 🤓

@sarah@sosial.link The #nextcloud user experience is holding the whole ecosystem back, imo. Finding myself down a rabbit hole today trying to figure out why my nextcloud container goes offline periodically, looking at hacks to reboot it daily, tracing logs.... just sanity checked myself.... I'm done with it. The file sync works fine (when the server is up) but the client UI is atrocious on both Linux and windows. Looking at moving off it now. #Syncthing, #mealie or #kitchenowl, and Obsidian will replace 99% of what I use it for

«Das beste Datei-Sharing auf dem NAS: Opencloud, Resilio, Nextcloud, Syncthing und mehr» — auf @ct_uplink Das Thema ist (für mich) nicht neu, nun aber wird es endlich populär. Denn langsam aber immer mehr sehen US-Konzerne unter Kritik. Vor nicht all zu langer Zeit wurde ich noch gerne als "Nerd-Spinner" angesehen da ich nicht der Masse hinterher "torkelte". 📺 https://peertube.heise.de/w/uQRygtbsgtWMRFhCsbtyyB #opencloud #resilio #nextcloud #cloud #syncthing #opensource #peertube #nas #video #dateisharing #filesharing

#askfedi Any longtime #syncthing user out there? I would like to go give another try, my experience from 5-6 years ago was not that great, I didn't want to use the public relay/discovery server and I remember it was not that smooth, I had quite some discrepancy among my devices. How is it nowadays? If you are a longtime user, can you share your experience? (i don't ask for config) thank you

@omar@mastodon.bsd.cafe I am a long time user of #syncthing and overall it is working fine between Mac, Netbsd and Linux. Sometimes the sync in a LAN is not as fast as I wanted. Sometimes there are some sync conflicts, not sure why they happen. As I don't know anything better, I'm pretty happy with how it works as I don't need any 3rd party service.

I just lost situational (situGUInal?) awareness and accidentally deleted two entire photo albums from my phone gallery thinking they were just two images. And #Syncthing replicated the deletion to all my computers. But, happy ending, not only do I take regular #BorgBackup backups, I also use #btrbk so recovered everything via the snapshots on the laptop within 60 seconds, and of course Syncthing copied them back to the phone immediately. Check your backups.

#syncthing #dual_boot #linux
