(...) As of late August 2026, more than 127,031 civilians remain displaced in #WestPapua. For the first time, the Indonesian government publicly acknowledged the crisis, estimating around 122,000 IDPs. Security operations in Yahukimo's Korowai area caused some 600 indigenous Papuans to flee into forests. A 16-year-old student, Victor Bahabol, died while fleeing. IDPs have received no assistance from national humanitarian organisations.
