Back home after a week cruising around Ireland, seeing some new sights, being very well-entertained on board, meeting some lovely people, meeting one awful person, and watching England lose to a better team last night in the footy. The unpacking will happen soon so that washing can commence, there's shopping in our near future, but sadly it's straight back to work for now. #Travel #Cruise

A scenic cruising day yesterday along the north western coastline of Ireland. We'd pre-booked afternoon tea in the ship's forward-facing lounge so had great views circling Tory Island. We are back home and have been for about 4 hours. I am completely exhausted. Getting up at 05:30 and then doing battle with the M3 rush hour traffic has washed me out. I topped up the car with a few volts at an #EV charger in Brackley while we got some shopping. (Only to find out daughter had topped up the fridge for us!) There's half a suitcase unpacked. The patio plants have survived. The downstairs loo plants have died. The cat is •extremely• pleased to see us - I've never heard her make so much noise! I've jumped on the bathroom scales - I've lost 1.1kg while we've been away. This is remarkable! I need to work out how much we've spent (and whether the budget has been bashed) I need to sleep but I need to eat. I'm too tired to do either. Normal service resuming soon. #holiday #cruise #BoatTripNorth

I'm very glad we chose the destinations we did - they scratched my 'different' itch. I'm still extremely uneasy about the environmental aspects of cruise ships. #Cruise #BigTripNorth

The #CruiseShip delivers a daily newspaper to every cabin. This is a concise 8 A4 page printed edition produced by KVH media for cruise lines. There's just enough news in all areas (UK, global, sport, finance, celebrities) to keep up to date. There's no editorial, and no apparent bias (there will be but it's not blatant). I think I'd pay to have this type of daily digest at home. (No, it's not available to individuals) #news #Newspapers #UKNews #BoatTripNorth #Cruise

Good Morning from deck 6 of the #CruiseShip (and my bed). We seem to be just parking close to Tobermory in Scotland for the day. We aren't going on an organised trip but will get the tender into the town and spend a bit of money locally. We've been told the weather will be showers but not cold. This will be a change from the persistent drizzle we e had in the Atlantic since we left Iceland. Neither of us have been sleeping very well - I suspect we aren't getting enough exercise to make us tired! Balamory photos will hopefully follow! #Cruise #BoatTripNorth #Scotland

Very good morning from the north Atlantic. I've no idea what day or time it is because the #cruiseShip has moved to British time again, and on this type of holiday every day is a holiday. It's quite unsettling. We aren't going to be docking anywhere today, just pointing the pointy end at Tobermorry for tomorrow. This is a chance to recharge ourselves after three quite tiring days of sightseeing. Outside the cabin window it's bright and the sea is calm. I slept pretty well, but my arthritic thumbs are hurting a bit. I hope you are able to use the weekend for a bit of calm and to recharge your inner self. Force 6 - 7 gale north of the Orkney Islands. Although I haven't examined the porcelain I haven't eaten since yesterday lunchtime and have felt extremely rough. The islands are mostly connected by road tunnels but there's also ferries and helicopter connections. Grass roofing is traditional but still common. There's more sheep than people. Faroes wool is rich in lanolin so is often mixed with Shetland wool to make it easier to sell #faroeislands #BoatTripNorth #cruise
