#Antarctica A remote island near Antarctica is no longer home to the world's largest penguin colony as climate-driven changes to ocean food chains likely devastated its once-thriving inhabitants, a new study said Wednesday. Last month saw a very large temperature anomaly gradient between the Weddell Sea region and West #Antarctica. In fact, this was one of the very few places anywhere on the globe with colder than average temperatures in August, especially compared to older baselines (e.g., 1951-1980). Data from ERA5.
