"If you’ve ever questioned whether your work aligns with your values, these former Antarctic tour guides offer a thoughtful perspective on balancing career, wellbeing, and environmental responsibility. Their stories may also inspire a deeper appreciation for protecting Antarctica by leaving it untouched." https://theconversation.com/i-cant-work-in-the-farce-of-climate-change-cruise-tourism-anymore-why-antarctic-guides-quit-their-dream-jobs-286216 #news #ClimateChange #ClimateCollapse #ClimateNews #antarctica

”…we’re going into a period of history where unless we do something fundamental with ourselves and our society, we all plunge into the greatest spasm of horror the human race has ever experienced. …the only way we’re going to avoid it is by facing it… And this is difficult, to put it mildly, but it’s not impossible.” —Roger Hallam | The Chris Hedges Report #climatechange #climatecrisis #climatecollapse

”…the question isn’t what are we going to do. …the key question is how are you going to live your life? … It’s only like humanist arrogance that thinks we control this world. We most certainly do not control this world, which isn’t to say we shouldn’t give up a good life. But the reason we live a good life is because we believe in the good. And if you don’t believe in the good, you get mentally ill.” —Roger Hallam #climatechange #climatecrisis #climatecollapse #life

”…it’s not a hundred percent guaranteed that we’re going extinct, but we have to accept that’s now the main scenario… …this isn’t a wild card, it’s physics. You put CO2 into the atmosphere, it warms up…” —Roger Hallam, Democracy Necessitates Resistance (w/ Roger Hallam) | The Chris Hedges Report #climatechange #climatecrisis #climatecollapse

The sell-off of the public pensions is underway and none of it is to benefit the ordinary Canadian. The pace of this plunder and theft under Carney is astounding - hollowing out any chance to direct funds to climate adaptation since stopping the collapse is now impossible. Adaptation means helping ordinary people cope with the changes - boosting fire fighting, providing clean air treatment for all, enforcing labour protection protocols for exposed workers, training for and providing many rapid-response units to go to wildfires, flooding, ice storms, snow events... #ClimateCollapse #CanPoli https://canadiandimension.com/articles/view/the-case-for-reclaiming-canadas-pension-trillions

The food we eat, clothes we wear, and every electronic device we touch may embody innumerable injuries to the world, and all this is inescapable. Eschewing AI is one thing that we can actually do to live out ethics that affirm values of human and environmental rights. It’s almost a gift! Just use a computer the same way you did three years ago!” This. #Ethics #NoAI #AISlop #ClimateCollapse

@StingrayBadger@zirk.us This is the most frightening thing - that meteorologists, who know that climate systems are not linear: “… don't know in detail how bad this next year will be, as it's never been this hot.” #ClimateCollapse #ClimateCrisis #nonlinear #meteorologists

My kids lives are both directly & indirectly impacted by #ClimateCollapse : in addition to “everyday” heatwave effects, now the favorite outdoor bouldering / free-climbing place is burning in forest fires :( https://www.lemonde.fr/en/environment/article/2026/07/13/major-fire-rages-in-fontainebleau-forest-near-paris_6755419_114.html #ClimateDiary

Re #heatwave: I wonder what people think will happen now? "'If it’s like this now, what’s it going to be like in 10, 20 or 30 years?' The answer, of course, is hotter & hotter and hotter." #climatecollapse is like that: it only gets worse, never better. That's why it's so hard for us to grasp. https://www.newscientist.com/article/2531853-if-you-arent-terrified-by-this-heatwave-you-should-be/
