One of my favourite abandoned places in Italy, the beautiful Villa C. Which beautiful room is your favourite? I have been lucky enough to visit several times over the years; unfortunately nowadays she is covered with graffiti. I always remember her as she was, beautiful and unmarked! https://www.obsidianurbexphotography.com/residential/villa-c-italy/ #Italy #Architecture #Photography #History #Abandoned #Explore #Urbex #UrbanExloration

One of many beautiful rooms inside this abandoned Italian villa. The ornate railing encircles a skylight which lets natural light fill the staircase that spans the floors below. #Abandoned #Italy #Photography #LostPlaces #Architecture #LostPlaces

Entry 27 is out. On quality, what Pirsig meant by it, why Phaedrus breaks trying to define it, and what it might mean for architecture. https://asupala.me/2026/06/14/entry-27-on-quality/ #quality #architecture #pirsig #zenandtheartofmotorcyclemaintenance #book #writing #blog

Bibliotheek Neude, Utrecht, The Netherlands. The new central location for the Utrecht public library is inside a former post office from 1924. Its architect was Joseph Crouwel Jr, who designed it in the style of the Amsterdam School and drew inspiration from Finnish architect Eliel Saarinen. 📷: Fuji X-T20 + XF14mm f/2.8 R #library #libraryarchitecture #architecture #photography

Ukrainian cities had some of the finest early 20th century architecture in Europe before the war, yet it rarely gets mentioned in discussions of the continent's heritage. The loss is far greater than most people realize. #ukraine #architecture #modernism

Awards measure a project’s image. The people inside it measure its reality. Too often those two scores don't match. #architecture #design #management

Award-winning projects often optimise for what looks good in a photograph. The ones that actually serve their people optimise for what feels good at 3pm on a Tuesday. Those two circles rarely overlap. #architecture #design #organizationalculture

Most "value engineering" in building is a lie: it saves pennies upfront and guarantees decay within decades. Real long-term value is inseparable from durability, adaptability, and the dignity of the people who will live with the results. #architecture #longtermism #designthinking

Investors see square footage and comps; architects see how a building actually performs for the people inside it. The market often misses that a space that fails its occupants will eventually fail as an asset. Design quality isn't a luxury-it's long-term risk management. #architecture #realestate #designthinking
