I wrote yesterday about the problem I was having with a company not accepting an email mask. Apparently they won't explain why, just a blanket no. So in case anyone else wants to avoid these issues then do not try using the music streaming service Tidal. It was the last streaming service I subscribed to as a user but will now be cancelling. #musicstreaming #Tidal

I'm currently revisiting #qobuz and it just occured to me that there is no native streaming service app (afaik) that can organize albums (or playlists) into collections. It's so simple and I'm sure many people prefer to sort their music in some meaningful ways without having to run their own media server or pay for something like Roon. While Qobuz doesn't have collections natively, there is this excellent third-party open source app QBZ for linux desktops that does exactly that. I can finally organize albums into "my top of the year" or thematically. And there is more - it can also add local folders and Plex servers to your library (Jellyfin is the the works) and filter by format and quality etc. - really expands the limited functionality of the Qobuz client. Šiandien gavau laiškiuką nuo #Tidal. Paprastai man tie laiškai visiškai vienodai, bet konkrečiai šitas tikrai nudžiugino. Parašė, kad: nuo šiol stengsis tinkamai indikuoti DI sugeneruotas dainas,neleis jų monetizuoti,ir apskritai draus DI dainas, kurios atliekamos apsimetant realiais atlikėjais. Karoč matyt ne aš vienas buvau stipriai nusivylęs DI šliurpiu savo grojaraščiuose. Išgirdo. Nors va pranešimą spaudai pradėjo nuo teisinimosi, kad tikrai tikrai jie nėra prieš technologinį progresą ir šiaip DI yra zjbs.

I'm going to give #Qobuz a try as an alternative to #Tidal so there's one less subscription going to a US company. The last.fm integration seems to be working and all my music seems to be there. Wish the app icon on iOS was a bit prettier since it's going on my task bar...

RE: https://mastodon.social/@jonhicks/115662466196992390 I know #Tidal isn't perfect (and buying physical media or band merch is better, but hey, that is situational, I will only buy an album after I already like it), but this sort of thing makes me feel vindicated in choosing not to use #Spotify.
