Mercredi confession : dans un moment de désarroi, j’ai tenté de mettre à jour mon moyen de paiement #Spotify. Sans succès : sur la page de connexion à mon compte, impossible de passer le Google #Captcha (deux tentatives d’une vingtaine [!] de puzzles, soldées par une erreur serveur). Ayé, j’ai suffisamment la gniarre pour passer à #BandCamp + #Qobuz. Les caquètements du Grand Palmipède sont parfois mystérieux, mais toujours pertinents.

I'm currently revisiting #qobuz and it just occured to me that there is no native streaming service app (afaik) that can organize albums (or playlists) into collections. It's so simple and I'm sure many people prefer to sort their music in some meaningful ways without having to run their own media server or pay for something like Roon. While Qobuz doesn't have collections natively, there is this excellent third-party open source app QBZ for linux desktops that does exactly that. I can finally organize albums into "my top of the year" or thematically. And there is more - it can also add local folders and Plex servers to your library (Jellyfin is the the works) and filter by format and quality etc. - really expands the limited functionality of the Qobuz client. Vor kurzem bin ich auf einen inoffiziellen Qobuz-Player für Linux aufmerksam geworden: QBZ https://qbz.lol

Ein paar Dinge gefallen mir daran:

  • Kein Tracking/Telemetrie durch den Client. Bleibt nur noch das, was auf den Servern passiert.
  • Verfügbar für mehrere Distros und MacOS
  • CoverFlow: für iTunes und iPod Fans ein cooles Gimmick
  • Hi-Res Audio wird unterstützt, auch auf externen DAC's
  • DLNA/UPnP/Chromecast Support

Als ich Qobuz mal getestet hatte, fande ich den Webplayer als dauerhafte Lösung nicht besonders prickelnd.

Mal sehen, wie Qobuz in der neuen Artikelserie zum Thema Musik auf dem Kuketz-Blog abschneidet. Vielleicht nehme ich dann mal Geld in die Hand, und verzichte auf Spotify Free.

I'm going to give #Qobuz a try as an alternative to #Tidal so there's one less subscription going to a US company. The last.fm integration seems to be working and all my music seems to be there. Wish the app icon on iOS was a bit prettier since it's going on my task bar...
