Ok, der ältere (Bj 2018, i5 8000er, GF1060) der beiden Daddel-Laptops war sowieso mal wieder fällig zum Plattmachen. #bazzite zickte leider, ist also #cachyOS geworden, Hauptsache noch OOTB support für die Grafikkarte. Wieder ein Rechner weniger mit Windows, bleibt nur noch der 2. Laptop; der kommt vielleicht nach den Versuchen zu VR unter #linux

Grew tired of the compounding issues on my Pop!Os (mainly caused by it being based on an outdated Ubuntu) so I gave #cachyOS a try. Very impressed with the installer and always liked #arch in general. Some rough edges, mostly in the form of missing dependencies (waybar lacks icon fonts, sway lacks swaybg) but that's all solvable. What continues to piss me off though is how shitty complicated it is to consistently set up dark mode. Someone solve this pls.

I'm sooo glad #AMD pushes through and finally, step-by-step, add HDMI 2.1 support to their FOSS drivers despite the HDMI Forum's attempt at constant sabotage. Saw in my #CachyOS yesterday that support for 4K120 finally shows up for my TV. ❤️

Adventures in Linux Hover or focus to reveal Sensitive

Next step in my #linux journey - taking a dsktop battlestation with power and juice and putting linux on there and seeing if I can make it my primary compute system. I want to try somethign other than #cachyOS (which I enjoy). #Bazzite has not worked for me at all on many attempts. #pop_os kept having the loss of network need to reboot issues. #nobara has been problematic getting stuck in a loop from the latest updater (major version 43) trying to update to 44 and not getting there. I could go #linuxmint or #ubuntu, but I like the arch underneath Cachy, and i need to look at other good #archlinux versions for running games - via #steam #heroicgameslauncher and #minigalaxy for #gog . And I need to get the blog up to write about my experiences in proper longform. Meme for reading.

So, uh… I opened #Shelly on #CachyOS to install another browser and the first three recommendations are *all* AI tools. Not sure how to feel about this. No clue how it's determined with Shelly anyway, but given it's probably based on some statistic (it keeps being like this after restarting Shelly or reloading the repo) it still rubs me the wrong way. #Linux #Flathub

#cachyos #linux hat heute meine Daten gerettet. Etwas, das #apple #macos nicht geschafft hat in mehreren Anläufen. Es hat recht lange gedauert, aber das Ergebnis zählt. Geschrieben auf meinem gebrauchten Lenovo Thinkpad T480 mit Cachy OS als Linux-Testrechner. Gute Nacht :-) ...

@ftranschel@norden.social I am new to #linux, so there still is a lot to learn. #batocera is offering a lot of stuff for #gamers. #cachyos is not. The goals of the distros are quite different. Cachy OS runs very well on my Lenovo Laptop. What I haven't managed to work yet is Nvidia GeForce Now. Steam is up and running ...
