Thanks to Glasgow City Heritage Trust for sending me an information pack about their Brutal Glasgow Trail, celebrating the city's Brutalist Architecture. It's not a style that's everyone's cup of tea, but it's still an important part of the city's architectural history and I'm looking forward to checking the trail out. If you're interested, you can find out more about it here: https://www.glasgowheritage.org.uk/brutal-glasgow-trail/ #glasgow #architecture #brutalistarchitecture

The Atmosphere of My High School Exams in Gaza. ❗ Last year, I finished high school amid war, displacement, famine, and bombardment. During a ceasefire, my school held in-person exams to ensure fair results. I contracted Hepatitis A during the exam period, yet still graduated with 98%, ranking among the highest-performing students across Palestinian Al-Azhar Institutes and earning the highest Physics mark in Gaza that year. Now I’m raising funds to change this reality and reach University of Glasgow. If you're able to help, the link is in my bio. Sharing this campaign could help me reach someone who can. Your donation will do more than help me attend university. It will give me the chance to build a career in technology, support my family, and create a future beyond war. #gaza #palestine #donate #glasgow #scotland #uk #education

Allegorical figures of Speed and Science flanking the entrance to the North British Locomotive Company building in Springburn, Glasgow. They were sculpted by Albert Hemstock Hodge in 1909. #glasgow #springburn #sculpture #architecturephotography #architecture

Good morning, Glasgow from the 1901 Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in the West End of the city. Growing up here, you kind of take such buildings for granted, and its often only as you get older and travel to other places that you realise not everywhere has buildings like this. #glasgow #goodmorning #architecture #architecturephotography #kelvingroveartgallery

An unofficial US Apology Desk has been set up at the top end of Buchanan Street in Glasgow, and will be there for the next few hours, so if you want hunorous but frank and honest discussion about where everything has gone wrong with the US in the last few years, this the place to be. I love this little sculpted owl above the entrance to the abandoned 1849 Shandon House near Helensburgh. Like the rest of the house, he's clearly seen better days, but you can still see the craftsmenship needed to make him. #glasgow #architecture #helensburgh #owl #sculpture

A plaque on Montrose Street in Glasgow (near its corner with Ingram Street) marking the original location of the Glasgow School of Art. The school was founded here in 1845 as the Glasgow Government School of Design, but changed its name to the Glasgow School of Art in 1853. In 1869, it moved to the McLennan Galleries in Sauchiehall Street, before moving to a new purpose-built building on Renfrew Street designed by former student Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1899. This Mackintosh building grew to become one of the best-loved and most-admired buildings in the city, but it was badly damaged by a fire in 2014. Just as restoration had finished in 2018, it was again damaged by an even worse fire, which left as little more than a shell. Due to delays in insurance pay-outs, work to restore it again has yet to be started, and it's currently unclear if a full restoration will financially viable without substantial external funding. Love this stained glass on 63 Bath Street in Glasgow. One of the best things about life in this city is coming across such random bits of beauty as you travel around it. You just have to keep you eyes open so you see it as you pass. #glasgow #architecture #architecturephotography #stainedglass

Looking down on the glorious Charing Cross Mansions in Glasgow from a nearby pedestrian bridge. Designed by J.J. Burnet in an early French Renaissance style and constructed in 1891, this building always looks especially good on a sunny evening. #glasgow #architecture #tenement #charingcross #architecturephotography

A ghost sign on the surviving outer wall of the Old College Goods Station on High Street in central Glasgow. As far as I can work out it reads Manchester Chemical Co Ltd, Stores, Offices and Warehouse. The last line is unclear, but seems to say No Deposits. A hippocampus (or sea horse) riding on a wave on Stockwell Street in Glasgow. Created by Andy Scott, it was erected around 1992. Mythical aquatic equines was a subject Scott would return to later in his career, but in a much larger form, when he designed the 30 metre tall Kelpies on the Forth and Clyde Canal in Falkirk. #glasgow #sculpture #andyscott #publicart #stockwellstreet

Looking north along Hutcheson Street to the former Hutcheson Hospital in the Merchant City area of Glasgow. This is pretty much my view for the next three days as I again have a stall at the Wilson Street Makers Market today, Saturday and Sunday 12 noon until 6pm selling the usual Glasgow-themed books, print, cards, coasters, fridge magnets, badges and tote bags. #glasgow #merchantcityfestival #makersmarket #glasgowtoday
