Replying to @thisismyglasgow@mastodon.scot
There is a petition calling for its full and faithful retoration here: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/fully-restore-the-glasgow-school-of-art-mackintosh-building While I have no influence over the restoration to the Mac, can someone please make sure this plaque is given a good clean? #glasgow #glasgowcitycouncil #glasgowschoolofart #glasgowhistory @glasgowcc

A ghost sign on the surviving outer wall of the Old College Goods Station on High Street in central Glasgow. As far as I can work out it reads Manchester Chemical Co Ltd, Stores, Offices and Warehouse. The last line is unclear, but seems to say No Deposits. A bollard on Pacific Quay painted by the French conceptual artist Daniel Buren in his trademark black and white stripes for the 1988 Glasgow Garden Festival. These bollards as probably the only works of art from the festival which are still in place, and even then only a few of the original 170 are still there. Standards of Imperial Linear Measures from George Square in Glasgow. Installed in 1882 by the Glasgow Corporation, together they provide standard measures for one inch, one foot, two feet, a yard, a link, a chain and 100 feet. I've been told these will preserved during the current refurbishments of the square, but part of me will worry they might not be until I see for myself that they're still there. #glasgow #georgesquare #glasgowhistory #imperialstandards
