🎥🎭 Cine Teatro Blue, a collapsing ruin that was once a vibrant cultural venue in Portugal. The roof collapsed many years ago, and now vegetation grows in front of the stage. Having been abandoned for many years, it now faces an uncertain future. Will it be left to collapse entirely? 🚴⌨️🚗🛩️ From bicycles and typewriters to automobiles and aircraft parts. This old powerhouse powered neighbouring factories through the German Democratic Republic and Soviet times before falling into abandonment in the 1990s. 🛸 Buzludzha is a massive Communist monument in the Bulgarian mountains. Its Brutalist saucer design and 107m tower with a red star made it a landmark of the Eastern Bloc. Since 1989, harsh winters and neglect left the interior and its 25 tonnes of mosaics in ruins. Now recognised as endangered heritage, the site is undergoing vital stabilisation. 🔥🚒 Abandoned fire trucks left to rot in a barn, somewhere in England. These Dennis-Thornycroft MK9 crash tenders are specialised airfield safety response vehicles. Custom-built in the late 1970s and 1980s, they featured roof-mounted monitors capable of laying a 12m-wide foam carpet. 🔏 An old disused prison in Germany. Initially designed for medium-term and pre-trial detention, this building and its 50 single-occupancy cells have witnessed some darker chapters in history. Disused since the 1980s, the khaki green halls still contain haunting cells with folding bunks and reinforced doors. ⛪Somewhere in Scotland. This decaying ruined chapel is simple and relatively plain; the beauty here comes from the natural decay. Years of neglect are taking their toll. 🌿 I adore green, leafy abandoned places. The more overgrown the wild plants the more beautiful the location. What do you think? I love the idea that nature is always waiting in the wings, waiting for the opportunity to reclaim what we have taken. 🏰 An abandoned chateau, somewhere in France This old residence has a very striking, fairytale-like exterior. Ivy drapes over the main entrance. The chateau-style pointed roof gives an imposing and almost Gothic appearance. Opened in the 1950s, this sprawling facility was once the primary training hub for #BritishAirways, schooling tens of thousands of crew over six decades. In these decaying 1950s office blocks, theory classes and pre-flight lectures were once held. A beautiful abandoned ruin in the spa town of Tskaltubo, western Georgia. Built during the Soviet period, this sanatorium primarily served miners, particularly those working in manganese extraction in towns such as Chiatura. Edendork Dance Hall, Co Tyrone, Ireland. A popular social venue during the Irish showband era (1960s to mid-1980s.) A huge blue dome towers above the dancefloor; a chandelier hangs from it. Once a lively venue, it is now out of fashion and out of time.
