🆕🏛️ New location feature: New Parliament House (Old Royal High School), Scotland The UK government bought the site in the 1970s, planning to house the proposed Scottish Assembly here. The failed 1979 devolution referendum left the building in limbo. In 2026, it is being renovated into an event space. So many Youtube DIYers don't know about concrete vibrators and do shitty concrete pours or add excessive water to make it more "flowy". Mine was €60 from Ali and has done a fantastic job so far. Especially with casting against the old foundation it really gets the concrete flowing into the gaps between the stones to lock them in place. I see the air bubbles pop out of them when getting the tip near one and the concrete level drops as it flows in. Same for making sure it flows into the extended footing and fills it. It'll also make sure the rebar and anchor bolts are completely surrounded, which is essential for them to grip well. Усадьба Рейтанов, 2021 год. Идёт активная реставрация. Надеюсь, всё получится, и совковое хранилище картохи вновь станет усадьбой. Ох и любили надругаться над наследием, чужим имуществом и т д. Вдова последнего Рейтана Алина погибла по дороге в Казахстан в 1940. Рейтаны владели этим местом три с половиной столетия. Самый известный из них - Тадеуш, в Польше считается национальным героем. После первого раздела Речи Посполитой препятствовал последующим распадам. Late again, but progress was made. Hacked away the clay and some boulders on this stretch. This was more manual labour than on the previous side, because with the concrete overhang the excavator couldn't get as close to the wall. Also because it was hot and this is the south side and I of course ended up doing it at noon 😰 Next a lot of drilling, finishing the final hole as my last SDS bit melted. These rocks are really hard. The same drill bit will go through concrete like butter but die after about a dozen holes in granite. Installed anchor bolts to connect the big stones (and old concrete) to the new concrete. Then more holes for rebar spacers/supports, the long rebar pieces and the top XPS panels. #Foundation #Renovation #LogHouse #DIY #Homestead #Insulation #Building

I'm looking into complete #heating system inc #SolarPV + diverter or PVT while renovating an old property which currently lacks heating. All walls will have improved isolation but I'm not sure whether a #HeatPump is a good idea as we like it warm ~23C, so oil is the alternative. The house is mostly North facing (in SW UK), has a very old core (40cm stone walls) a less old section and two 1970's era extensions. A mixed bag! Any recommendation for #SelfHosting a web app, useable on mobile as well as desktop for two people to collaborate making notes with basic WYSIWYG text formatting? The purpose is to help us maintain notes for #renovation and #refurbishment of our home. We're mostly apart so I think it would help being able to edit a list of documents. Say one per room, and for things like lighting, heating, #HomeAutomation etc. Anyone done this? #HomeLab #HomeAssistant
