So many Youtube DIYers don't know about concrete vibrators and do shitty concrete pours or add excessive water to make it more "flowy". Mine was €60 from Ali and has done a fantastic job so far. Especially with casting against the old foundation it really gets the concrete flowing into the gaps between the stones to lock them in place. I see the air bubbles pop out of them when getting the tip near one and the concrete level drops as it flows in. Same for making sure it flows into the extended footing and fills it. It'll also make sure the rebar and anchor bolts are completely surrounded, which is essential for them to grip well. Here's an example of the effect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-Puk4RorDo #Foundation #DIY #Renovation #Concrete #Vibrator #Tools #AliExpress

So far I've greased my MK4S' and Mini+'s axis rods with a q-tip, which is a bit annoying as there's always possibility of getting some on the belts in the X-axis. So I made this simple tool. It can do both sides of the rod without making a mess. Just put a tiny amount of grease on both sides of this hook, push it against the rod and move sideways, then pull and do the other side. Takes just seconds compared to messing around with a q-tip. I'll probably make a larger version for the Z-axis too in the near future, I'll probably add it under the same item as this 8mm version. https://www.printables.com/model/1799276-greasing-tool-for-3d-printer-8mm-rods #3dprinter #prusa #tools

Attackers and their malware can turn our trusted tools against us to steal API and SSH keys. In the s1ngularity attack, hijacked AI coding agents combed developer machines for such secrets. Here's how to minimize our exposure. https://zeltser.com/securing-api-keys-on-your-workstation #tools #artificialintelligence

The woodworking section of the museum. A small model of a pit saw, or I guess since there is no pit, a trestle saw. And a working and relatively modern foot powered lathe. #Woodworking #Museum #Alanta #Tools #Sawing #History

Replying to @elsua54@mastodon.social
@elsua54@mastodon.social Agree on that also. I think we do have plenty of people "already there" (in my eyes) and "made it" as far as #software, #tools and having enough #fans, a #tribe, #following etc - But somehow the people-loving side or ironically communication sides are still the vital Tetris piece missing from all these below! #Eugene [#Mastodon], #Dansup [#Loops], #RichardStallman [#GNU] #AralBalkan [#SmallTech] #Jitsi [instant browser chat in 3-clicks] (will update more as I think more)

More supplies. These were cheaper than the "Basic" ones (Specialist brand, I think), let's try how they fare on rock. There are supposedly special rock drill bits (these are concrete ones) but they were astronomically priced and nobody had them in stock anyways. #Rock #Drill #Bit #Tools #Makita #Granite
