@Timpostma@mastodon.world I have a completely cursed 2018 #Ender3 sitting on the floor in my garage 😆 ...but my main machine is a Sovol SV-07 that I got a couple years ago. It's a bit flawed, a little bit buggy on the software side, but it's got Klipper and it prints decently reliably and fast. It has mesh bed leveling and bed springs, for some silly reason. But I don't print very often, and for the most part, it just works. A #Prusa #CoreXY would be crazy cool, but they're out of my price league. ;)

So far I've greased my MK4S' and Mini+'s axis rods with a q-tip, which is a bit annoying as there's always possibility of getting some on the belts in the X-axis. So I made this simple tool. It can do both sides of the rod without making a mess. Just put a tiny amount of grease on both sides of this hook, push it against the rod and move sideways, then pull and do the other side. Takes just seconds compared to messing around with a q-tip. I'll probably make a larger version for the Z-axis too in the near future, I'll probably add it under the same item as this 8mm version. https://www.printables.com/model/1799276-greasing-tool-for-3d-printer-8mm-rods #3dprinter #prusa #tools

If I didn't know, I'd think there's something very wrong here. Core One's print head homing sequence. #3dprinter #prusa

@Hal_9000@chaos.social The #prusa core one+ kit got delivered on friday, so my wife and I assembled it over the past three days and fired it up for a test print an hour ago. It worked, first try! The documentation was outstanding just as you said and with the exception of maybe three steps in the assembling everything was smooth sailing all the way. Extremely happy with my purchase, so thank you again!

It printed just fine with tad higher fan speed. I'm assuming a firmware bug. Noticed another: after the print is finished, the cooling fan never stops and the display still shows a target temperature even when it no longer heats. The fan stops when I manually select cooldown. I'm suspecting the 6.5.7 isn't a good release. #prusa

Oh, this was a good find. I had forgotten about reading that there's a nozzle quick swap tool for Core-series, I printed one out and the nozzle was in and out in 30 seconds, most of it wondering if I'm doing it right. I only now learned something like this was also for the MK4S, not that I need to replace its nozzle often but going to long way was painful enough once. Technically the quick swap tool grabs the heating block and keeps it in place while you just drop the nozzle and whole tubing out, screw the new one in and that's it. The high flow nozzle goes in my big pile of "nozzles I'll probably never need". Here's the tool: https://www.printables.com/model/1237212-core-one-l-nozzle-replacement-tool #3dprinter #3dprinting #prusa

I ordered Prusa Core One L to replace my aging Snapmaker A350, it's going to have the 8 tool INDX update once they iron out the worst kinks seen in the founder's edition of the kit. Meanwhile here's the smaller Core One with the kit installed in, doing a live stream print: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0Kk_vCk9U0 #prusa #3dprinter #3dprinting

@keisatsu@infosec.exchange as a #Prusa fanboy I'd go for another one. Printer works with all fillaments and without cloud. #Creality was a friend not so happy with, but that's just a single oppinion.

asking the hivemind for suggestions for 3d printers. Total noob with no particular application in mind other than maybe #3dprint replacement parts for stuff. I am more interested in the things I can print than the printer itself :) It's important that no functionality is locked behind cloud services or subscriptions. So no #bambulabs I guess, especially after the OrcaSlicer debacle Maybe a #prusa ? Or are they also enshittified? or a #creality ?

I brought my 3D printed guitar to the office and had a colleague tune it, and then we tried it with a proper sound system. It actually sounds great now. #guitar #3DPrinting #Prusacaster #prusa #music
