I have a weird problem with #3DPrinting Whenever I print things that should screw into other things, they don't fit. For example with OpenGrid, when I print the MultiConnect snap and the screw that goes into it, I need to scale it down by 10% to be able to screw it in. Is this normal?

Recently I learned about TouchMapper: Create tactile maps easily for any address. They use #OpenStreetMap to create printable 3D models of an area, for people with no/bad vision to literally get a feel for the place. Discoverable Terrain in TTRPGs During the Covid-19 phase, my group went online. We used Roll20 to continue playing. Some aspects of this transformation were bad, other aspects were good. Among the things that worked better was the easy handling of discoverable terrain. You (the GM) had the complete map, but revealed only what the players could see. One could easily have "hidden" points-of-interest that awaited their discovery on a second layer. I have been looking into how I could preserve this discoverability when going onprem again. For dungeons I was using "Dungeon Blocks" with self-printed blocks. But for the maps of the region, I was still missing an option until I discovers Masters of the Realm. This allows me to design a region at the PC and then create 3d-printed hex tiles to make it "physical". As my printer (Bambulabs P2S) allows color changed per layer, I was able to reduce the "hand painting" of the tiles to a minimum. @freecad@social.freecad.org Oh it's #freecadfriday already! Well here's one for the "must you 3D print everything" category. Our arcade's new toilet has this tiniest of the tiny sink. We've had the soap dispenser on it awkwardly behind the tap while I've been hoping to find some kind of a wall mountable solution. All I could find was those flimsy suction cup mounted ones that you'll find on the floor after a while. I measured the the space between the wall and the sink and then made this. It fits there snugly and holds the soap bottle where it's actually easy to use from. #3dprinting #freecad

@blitter@ioc.exchange your right however there are thousands of poly esters then their are poly ethers & poly ethylene but keep in mind most people dont mind #3dprinting PLA its #science

Just remembered the Z-Hop* setting in #Cura. Now my C64 keyboard dust cover should hopefully print without incident. :D

  • Causes the print head to jump up whenever moving over a printed layer to prevent the print head from snagging the part being printed and yanking it off the build surface (print/print head collision)

@rl_dane@polymaths.social i would be careful because that could require calibration to #troubleshoot #3dprinting which is a big reason why Core XY's have replaced a lot of Deltas & bed slingers could be next

@rl_dane@polymaths.social remember in #3DPrinting experience & learning from mistakes or others benefits & anyone can ask for a hand that’s no problem by the way which year of manufacture was your 3DPrinter because that could be a reason why personally if you want something really easy try & aim for something no older then a prusa mk4

What is the price range of such a 3D printer? What is your opinion about the printing speed of 3D printers in general in comparison to a couple of years ago One mean thing which prevents me from even looking at them is the fact that these things print extremely slow Even basic shapes 3Dprint as slow as molasses The progress in printing speed hasn't been as spectacular as I had envisioned @rl_dane@polymaths.social @Timpostma@mastodon.world #3Dprinting #speed

@dendrobatus_azureus@polymaths.social @rl_dane@polymaths.social a #3dPrinting prusa core one is $2 000 CDN base price for a Core one L which prints almost a cubic foot is $3 000 just a larger build then the regular core one + & the critical infrastructure version is about double however it is certified for classified information & is encrypted so if the project is worth the trouble i would go with a critical infrastructure sorry for the delay i wanted to check my sources one is 3dprintingCanada.com
