A fresh Home Assistant install feels so nice. I'm this close to not restore the backup and simply start over. Context: I'm migrating from Docker to full HAOS. #HomeAssistant @homeassistant@fedigroups.social

Hej #Smarthome #HomeAssistant Bubble! :)

Fixed watering schedules don't know if it rained. Mine almost killed my plants this summer, so I built a Home Assistant garden watering automation that tracks heat, rainfall, and forecasts, then decides every day whether (and how long) to water. No weather station required to get started. https://youtu.be/PqaLT3l4-AU #HomeAssistant #SmartGarden #HomeAutomation

Home Assistant 2026.8! 🎉 New OS installs no longer need :8123 in the address to access the UI, making it that little bit more approachable for new users 🏡, you can now set the Entity ID format for new entities ⚙️, we lay the groundwork for flexible device handling in future updates 🪏, more triggers and conditions 🌙, and 15 new integrations! https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/2026/08/05/release-20268/ #HomeAssistant

So in the end I have analog videophone for my home from commax. And well I want good integration with anything. Application Commax Hey Call is almost dead. Integration with #homeassistant does not exist. So I started to debug this with Claude. And well there is telnet port open with root that has no password... So I started to move further as this is busybox that is just running a binary. Claude created .so that was loaded with LD_PRELOAD and got the video feed based on the preload + some firmware loorking that it found for another version of monitor (7" version). So after tests and good night of sleep I think I'll start creating my own software for this monitor that has proper integration with homeassistant. And with my own app I can create my own UI + add more things from my HA. Let's see where we will get with this adventure.

I created #GeoPulse accounts for each family member and migrated all location history data from the #Owntracks recorder. The last bit was to switch #HomeAssistant location reporting to it. I'm not sure we will use GeoPulse often, but it's nice to know we have #SelfHosted location history. Can't wait to integrate it with #Immich, once we move there. #homelab #selfhost #selfHosting #LocationHistory #GPS

Smarter Thermostat with Home Assistant I set up Home Assistant to automatically switch my thermostat between heating, cooling, or both based on weather forecasts, so it stops trying to heat the house on summer mornings or cool it on winter evenings. https://michaelharley.net/posts/2026/08/03/smarter-thermostat-with-home-assistant/ #HomeAssistant #HomeAutomation #Blaugust #Blaugust2026

Hier #homeautomation #homeassistant bubble. Kennt jemand sowas in fertig ausgedacht?

I recently followed this helpful guide from @mbootsman@toot.re to set up a self-signed TLS Certificate for my #HomeAssistant Green device. The process was easy to follow and super-helpful. Thanks, Marcel! #homeassistant #homenetworking #homelab #infosec https://marcelbootsman.nl/notes/add-a-self-signed-ssl-certificate-to-home-assistant-local-https/

I have a question for all the #HomeAssistant junkies out there... I happen to be reviewing my @runZeroInc@infosec.exchange report today for my home network, and I see my Home Assistant Green seems to be bound to an IP address in the Phillipines. I live in the United States, so this immediately seems suspicious. The only network connection I see is an ARP request on port 0 (also weird). Do I yank this thing off my network? Does anybody know what this could be? https://ipinfo.io/49.150.192.168

FUCK! YES! For once, Google "AI mode" was correct. I need to pass the interface ID via a manual command line switch. Then it will use the correct one. And mDNS works. I apparently still need a Google Phone to add a Matter device, since the manual add doesn't work. #matter #homeassistant

A €3 Zigbee leak sensor under an appliance is not clever automation. It just waits quietly for the one event I really don't want to discover by stepping into it. The important maintenance is boring: test it with a damp cloth, check the alert path, and replace tired batteries before the sensor becomes decoration. #Zigbee2MQTT #HomeAssistant #smarthome

I mean. *grumpGRUMPgrump*
