this morn i apparently successfully managed to edit the timer pgm in one of my newish #RCAC #HeatPump hand-controllers ergo now with this unexpected spring in my step, maybe i should track down an old 70s #Betamax #VCR & have at it !! revenge is the dish best served cold... muhahahaha

Questions for people who control their environmental temperatures with heat pumps (and only people with first-hand experience):

1. What is the optimal operating temperature range for your heat pump? (I.e., lowest temp it operates in efficiently for heating, highest temp for cooling)

2. When you can't use it because temperatures are outside that range, what do you use a back-up heating and cooling alternatives?

I'm looking into complete #heating system inc #SolarPV + diverter or PVT while renovating an old property which currently lacks heating. All walls will have improved isolation but I'm not sure whether a #HeatPump is a good idea as we like it warm ~23C, so oil is the alternative. The house is mostly North facing (in SW UK), has a very old core (40cm stone walls) a less old section and two 1970's era extensions. A mixed bag! A little bit of a hiccup today that, in hindsight, I really should have seen coming [1] Outside temperatures were in the thirties (°C), so the battery, being built to protect itself against aggressive use, started rotating a fan according to the room temperature In summary: the battery has been using additional 50 W consistently all day for cooling purposes, even after the sun set, and it actually needed recharging from the grid /cc @solaradmin@solarcene.community fiy watch out for this?
