Recently I learned about TouchMapper: Create tactile maps easily for any address. They use #OpenStreetMap to create printable 3D models of an area, for people with no/bad vision to literally get a feel for the place. #maps Hahaha hier un touriste qui vient sonner à la porte de namour. "Bonjour, je ne trouve pas cette route". Il me montre GoogleMaps sur l'écran de son smartphone. Ma réponse : "C'est normal que vous ne la trouviez pas : Cette route n'existe pas. GoogleMaps est pauvre et truffé d'erreurs." Je l'ai envoyé sur CoMaps, bien sûr.

I abuse the word "'genius". Way too flippant with the term, and I'm probably not alone. And then a map takes me back to someone like Alexander Von Humboldt, and I remember when it should be applied. We think of his work on the geography of plants and isothermal maps. But he did a lot for anchoring understanding of the Southwest. Here his great work that influenced Pike and Arrowsmith. While sorting out other kinds of data, I re-exported my ESA CCI Landcover set at the fullest resolution I can muster. It's only 558mb @ 129600 x 64800 pixels, but I admit it's still rather stunning to look through - the world as an illustration, made up of 22 landcover types. #maps #data #maping #gis #silentSunday

2nd day of google maps plenér common view you will say...but it's important to give them a chance to be fixed in history too I choosed those streets by the names. and it's interesting challenge to find a point of view wich I like.. mostly when these streets even did not filmed fully...
