Severe weather in the area recently, and my OnePlus 6T phone running #postmarketos received the cell broadcast alert! Certainly many to thank for this feature being available on #mobilelinux, including @phosh@social.phosh.mobi @postmarketOS@social.treehouse.systems and many more I don't even know. #phosh #duranium

@nek@hear-me.social #PamDuress [1] is a small #LGPL package, looks serious and well-written, developed since 2021, though should be checked by people with infosec experience. Fork for #phosh [2]. Up to the user to write or choose "duress" scripts - not necessarily deleting anything - could be emailing an alert or audio/photo files to a trusted address. Should be usable on any GNU/Linux desktop/laptop/phone for people whose threat model needs this. [1] https://github.com/nuvious/pam-duress [2] https://github.com/Sirr-OS/phosh-pam-duress

burnout; coding project completion, + Hover or focus to reveal Sensitive
While (painfully slowly…) trying to work my way back from my burnout, I managed to rewrite an old app. I'd originally written for #UbuntuTouch in #GTK for use with #Phosh. Actually completing something feels nice; the fact that it has practical use I can easily utilize every day is so. And with #Guile is always a joy.

#Phosh #LinuxMobile

Beginning day of daily driving my PinePhone Pro (1) – 18/07/2026 Today I start my journey daily driving the PinePhone Pro for a month. I started by asking abcde and xmn from the PINE64 chatrooms which distro I should use. I personally wanted to use something different so I was personally thinking either Mobian or Arch Linux/DanctNIX. In the end we decided that I will use Mobian with Phosh as the distro I will use for the month. After I finished installing Mobian to the internal storage, I had switched some settings around (pin, timezone, etc). While doing that, I accidentally disabled cellular networking in Gnome settings. Around five minutes after this I tried calling the PinePhone Pro from my main phone and it failed as both devices went to voicemail immediately. I fixed this by rebooting the device, I tested on both PostmarketOS edge and the latest Mobian weekly image afterwards and calls worked no problem. Some initial observations is how hot the device gets from doing nothing. The RK3399S found in the PinePhone Pro is a binned variant of the SOC in the PineBook Pro (less power usage and better thermals). Even after binning, the power usage is high (3.0W-4.0W idle) and the device is constantly hot. While I was setting this all up, it had been around 35 minutes. Battery life went from 70% to 17% within that time. The performance however is good, I am happy with how web browsing and general navigation feel. Web browsing hitches a little bit, but once the page loads scrolling is smooth on Firefox. So far I have installed Tuba for managing the PINE64 community Mastodon on the go, Telegram for online messaging, Speech Note for voice to text notes, Pure Maps for navigation, LocalSend for file transfer and FreeTube for watching stuff. That’s about it, I’m going to bed. See you next log! #pine64 #pinephone #pinephonepro #mobilelinux #linuxmobile #mobian #phosh

Currently there is no way for applications to get or set the screen orientation on #linuxmobile #wayland. This results in things like not being able to take landscape pictures using the camera or games not having the correct orientation. I created a RFC wayland protocol to implement this. If you have ideas or opinions about this please leave them in the pull request below: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland-protocols/-/merge_requests/524 #postmarketos #phosh

On my way to #fsfe25 in Krakow. Currently showing my newly flashed #mobian phone running #phosh to my co-workers @Tobias and @anaghz@social.tchncs.de . @Tobias 's first check was, if you can install #doom (yes, you can 🤗)

Got Phosh's immutable BengalOS to boot on a Google Pixel 3A. There's quiet a bit of work left to make that usable but I'm already looking forward to try some of Phosh's features for immutable on a real device rather than a VM image. This is only possible due to the immense work of @mobian@fosstodon.org and @postmarketOS@social.treehouse.systems . #Phosh #BengalOS #LinuxMobile #immutable #mkosi

Phosh now support's hiding and disabling applications. This is useful on immutable systems where software from the base images can't be uninstalled: #phosh #LinuxMobile #immutable 1/x

There's also a new load meter status bar plugin now. The UI in mobile settings to enable & disable status bar plugins isn't written yet (any takers?) so to enable it already you can use: gsettings set mobi.phosh.shell.plugins status-icons "['load-meter-status-icon']" #phosh #statusbar #plugins 2/x

There were several important bug fixes in the shell around application startup feedback. There's also good news for tablet users: the lockscreen can now be used in landscape mode on those devices too: #phosh #lockscreen 3/x

It's been relatively quiet on the compositor side this cycle but we updated phoc to use #wlroots 0.20.1 and added support for the xdg-toplevel-tag protocol. #phoc #phosh #wlroots 4/x

The on-screen keyboard Stevia now allow to set a fixed layout per application. You can use this to e.g. force the keybord to use the terminal layout with your preferred text editor. 5/x #phosh #osk #stevia

Speaking of the keyboard's terminal layout: Non-modifier keys in the completion bar now support key-repeat. As people struggled to figure out the cursor navigation via space bar long press we now add cursor keys to the completion bar by default. #phosh #osk #stevia 6/x
