"pmbootstrap will now perform strict builds of packages by default, which was previously opt-in behavior enabled either by invoking it with the --strict flag or by setting pmb:strict in the APKBUILD for a package. The change for this was merged to pmbootstrap's main branch today and will be shipping in the next minor release, probably 3.11.0."

After the next stable release of postmarketOS (v26.06) we have decided that unmaintained devices (those where the device package doesn't have a maintainer= line in their APKBUILD) will be archived, this means the packages will no longer be built and included in our binary repository.
If you want to make sure an unmaintained device continues to be supported, you can take over maintainership yourself so that we can reach you if there's a problem rebuilding the device or kernel package.

As postmarketOS developer, it can be hard to keep up with changes in workflows and tooling, and understanding why these changes were made. @newbyte@mastodon.nu had the idea to create a blog specifically for such developer-relevant changes and wrote the first blog post for it, about the basically unused pmbootstrap subcommands "lint" and "aportupgrade" being removed. This has been fixed in mkinitfs 2.9.0 and boot-deploy 0.23.0. (This is a good example why the hardware CI work is so important.) Another FOSDEM and hackathon are in the rear-view mirror, and it is hard to find words to describe how amazingly productive and fun the experience was! We met so many people at the postmarketOS stand, in the FOSS on Mobile devroom and at dinners in the evening. As always it is fun to put faces to nicknames and to talk about the Linux Mobile ecosystem, and figure out how to improve it in person.

"I've written a profile manager for the QCOM baseband which talks to the PDC service.
The PDC is the persistent device configuration. It controls similar settings as the carrier configuration on Android, such as the APN, SMSC, the IMS functionality, the 5G functionality, ... But the PDC profiles have more control over the baseband than the Android carrier configuration does."

"Devices running GNOME Mobile, Phosh, and Plasma Mobile received a new USB stack based upon usb-moded which is more robust compared to the original stack:
* Netboot works again which regressed with supporting USB tethering.
* Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) is now available for users to access files of their device. See pmaports#646.
* USB access is disabled by default, increasing security. Only after enabling the right mode, SSH/MTP/... functionality will be available as usual. In host mode, nothing is changed.
* Once you connect the device over USB to your computer, a notification will pop up asking which USB mode you want to enable, defaulting to charging only.
* Opens the path to other USB modes through FunctionFS.
When you plug in your device, a notification will be generated allowing you to select the USB mode you prefer"

One of them is the OpenIMSD project, which has the goal of getting VoLTE on Qualcomm based phones working with postmarketOS, @mobian@fosstodon.org and all other Linux (Mobile) distributions.
As a precursor to that, we need to be able to create VoLTE-related QMI traces from Android phones. @lynxis@social.bau-ha.us figured out a good method and wrote a blog post about it:
