Amberol is a sleek music player that plays music and nothing beyond that, it doesn't overwhelm with tons of unneeded preferences. It's also what popularised using album art for the background in music players! https://apps.gnome.org/Amberol/ Thank you @ebassi@mastodon.social for making this! #GNOME #GNOMECircle #music

The next step towards multi-seat applications is having support for it in the GUI toolkits/graphics libraries!

To my surprise, @GTK@floss.social has excellent built-in support, at least conceptually! Events have a get_seat method, which directly tell you which Seat an event belongs to.

Most GTK widgets don't really respect multi-seat input, of course…

So I wrote an experimental MultiSeatText widget that tracks multiple independent text cursors: https://codeberg.org/blinry/gtk-multi-seat-text-widget

burnout; coding project completion, + Hover or focus to reveal Sensitive
While (painfully slowly…) trying to work my way back from my burnout, I managed to rewrite an old app. I'd originally written for #UbuntuTouch in #GTK for use with #Phosh. Actually completing something feels nice; the fact that it has practical use I can easily utilize every day is so. And with #Guile is always a joy.

More progress on the svg editor! Right now it is called "Rewire" btw. The svg document is finally integrated with the canvas editor, so you can use it along with the text editor to make changes. The actions you take in the canvas editor also sync with the text view, meaning you can undo and redo actions as though you had pasted or deleted text. #gnome #svg #gtk

@joe@f.duriansoftware.com I know enough about #GTK to port these themes to its CSS engine fairly faithfully. however, posting about it is liable to give e***** or m****** a coronary

We have talentful contributors roaming our trackers all the time. One of the very active contributor we have lately is balooii, who also ends up being a skilled software archeologist! 🤠 One of his last fun project was building #GIMP 0.54 from 1996 in a Flatpak package (making it runnable on a modern Linux system). This was the last version using the Motif toolkit (before the GIMP authors created #GTK). More here: https://discourse.gnome.org/t/254-commit-graph/35564#miscellaneous And here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/balooii/gimp-0.54

My desktop is KDE Plasma, but I also like to use GNOME apps. I find funny how this weird mix of Qt+GTK4 happens to be exactly like the weird mix of Win32+UWP on Windows. #Linux #Desktop #Windows #KDE #Plasma #GNOME #Qt #GTK #Win32 #UWP

I've renamed my web browser project from SWB to Sunstone.

The sunstone was a translucent mineral prized by Viking navigators because it had a natural property that polarized light, making it possible to see through the haze and find the sun on a hazy day - quite common in the North Atlantic. I liked the connection to a primitive navigation tool.

Some code progress:

  • Downloads are displayed in a grid form inside a popup menu with a progress bar
  • I've added a (non-functional) bookmark editor button next to the address bar. Bookmarks should be coming fairly soon.
  • If the tab bar or the command bar are hidden, those settings now persist across sessions.
  • When the tab bar is hidden, the tab overview button is shown and the new tab button is hidden. You can still create a new tab from the button in the overview or from 'Ctrl/t'. Keeps the interface cleaner.
