After installing the original #murena /e/OS #eos update to 4.1.1-a16 on my #Fairphone 6, all web content is loading extremely slowly. It doesn’t matter which app I’m using – the browser, Mastodon, etc. Can anyone else confirm this? I’ve already switched off the VPN.

Is there here in the Fediverse anyone with experience using Android Auto on /e/OS? I understand that Android auto requires Google Apps, which isn’t ideal from a privacy perspective. In that case, I wouldn’t use Google Maps but Sygic instead. I’m also hoping that if certain Google apps are required, this won’t immediately compromise the entire phone. I also read on doc.e.foundation/os/how-to/and… that there are options available. However, that information is for /e/OS 2. /e/OS 4.1 has since been released. Perhaps there have been changes in the meantime that affect this. #murena #eos #android

The main reason for this is my now working banking app (Triodos) and DigID (Dutch government ID app). But I will still try to find an alternative for when it goes wrong again. You can of course draw your own conclusion. ✏️ edit: My OTA update is not yet ready. It's a so called staggered release, so this was expected. #Murena #eOS

@bartek@social.brtk.eu Ta jedna wada LineageOS tj. że nie jest skonfigurowany od razu po instalacji, sprawia, że nawet nie rozważam LineageOS i zdecydowanie wybieram system /e/. Nie chcę tracić czasu na konfigurowanie i w ogóle zajmowanie się sprawami technicznymi. System /e/ umożliwia mi korzystanie z całej masy dobrze skonfigurowanych rzeczy od razu po instalacji, w tym z przestrzeni Nextcloud w ramach #Murena która po prostu ułatwia życie. Jeśli miałbym sam to wszystko sobie konfigurować, to pewnie korzystałbym ze zwykłego googlowego Androida - na co nie mam żadnej chęci. A oddolny marketing eOS to jest po prostu społeczność zadowolonych użytkowników. Jestem jednym z nich. #eOS @m0bi@mastodon.com.pl

@leanderlindahl@social.folkdata.se After beeing in #jolla #sailfish land for 2 weeks and had #eos #murena on #fairphone 6 for 6 months…. I prefer currently #eos mainly for those reasons (now) even when sailfish would be my choice of heart and I will reevaluate in 12 months again … Fairphone 6 with murena 4.0 0) Ux seems currently a bit better on fp6 ( productivity) 1) more often software builds (since they are Android fork) / faster updates 2) all my important apps (password mgr, banking, government) run since 6 months (… lasted 6 months to get them to work) 3) the community seems more professional and less „emotional / hardcore“ 4) nfc payment works What I really liked about sailfish: 0) Less to no ties to the google / apple universe 1) the ui seems more focused and less nagging 2) the hardware of the new Jolla phone at least for me feels much better (even if it is midrange) Bottom line: both worked well, BUT sailfish has some Android app compatibility issues still (can not set a security pin on the app / Android universe… therefore many apps refuse working), if critical apps work I give it another try.. (

It's almost a year since I joined HMD, and later to HMD Secure. During this time, because we are working with #deGoogled devices, I came to see very sketchy moves by Google in limiting significantly what you experience with a deGoogled device. #Murena e/OS is a great example of what you can achieve when you say no and go against the stream together. It's great to know we are not alone, on a raft and we paddle against the waves of shenanigans Google pushes towards us. It is defiance, it is persistence, it is giving people an option where privacy matters the most.

@denzilferreira@techhub.social Is sure hope that you, #Murena and other efforts are succesfull. I would love to have an alternative without Apple or Google surveillance. Too bad that is not a choice if you wish to use the official government apps like MitID, Drivers licence app, Sundhedskort etc. as well as bank apps like mobile pay etc.

Mir ist das auch ein Dorn im Auge, daher möchte ich wirklich gerne mehr über #Fairphone und #Jolla sowie #Murena hören und wenn die Hardware dafür verfügbar ist auch gerne #postmarketos Ich mache mir etwas Sorgen um den Fortbestand von #Android falls Google komplett sich zurückzieht, daher finde ich die Alternativen um so wichtiger

But if banks move to force Play Integrity, we can't approve the bank login to validate one's identity. Which makes it impossible to login on public services, tax office, health care, etc. We are slowly becoming dependent on a Google Certified device to identify who we are. And that is the problem. #Volla, #Jolla, #Murena #HMD Secure devices would be penalized because we take EU Digital Sovereignty seriously and offer deGoogled devices. @gael@mastodon.social @murena@mastodon.social e/OS is also on the same boat if Play Integrity is the only way that developers use to check device integrity.

Hiermit möchte ich meine Aussage revidieren In Tests mit anderen Betriebssystemen würden diese Verbindungen oft stillschweigend durchgelassen und gar nicht angezeigt. Dass /e/OS hier 45+ Versuche anzeigt, beweist die Sensitivität des Filters: Er zeigt Ihnen jeden einzelnen Versuch einer Drittanbieter-Kommunikation an, den andere Browser unsichtbar im Hintergrund ausführen würden. Empfehlung: Prüfen Sie im Detail-Log, an welche Domains die „Lecks“ gehen. Handelt es sich um murena.com, e.foundation oder bekannte Analyse-Dienste (wie Matomo), können Sie diese Meldung ignorieren. Es findet kein Datenabfluss an Google, Facebook oder unbekannte Dritte statt. Das dürfte ein wenig peinlich sein für Murena der Neue Browser ist Nee Daten Schleuder Da braucht man kein entgoogle #murena #fairphone #Browser #opensource #linux
