I created #GeoPulse accounts for each family member and migrated all location history data from the #Owntracks recorder. The last bit was to switch #HomeAssistant location reporting to it. I'm not sure we will use GeoPulse often, but it's nice to know we have #SelfHosted location history. Can't wait to integrate it with #Immich, once we move there. #homelab #selfhost #selfHosting #LocationHistory #GPS

My digital sovereignty stack in 2026: Laptop OS: Linux (Fedora 44) :fedora: Server OS: FreeBSD 15.1 :freebsd: Phone: Android 17 :android: E-Mail: Self hosted dovecot/opensmtpd server File storage/sync: Nextcloud (Selfhosted) Contacts/Calendar: DAVx5 (Nextcloud backend) Camera Roll/Photos: Immich (selfhosted) Document storage: Paperless NGX (selfhosted) Bookmark storage: Kollect (my own self-developed and self-hosted app) Browser: Vivaldi (Linux, Android) :vivaldi: Mail-Client: Thunderbird (Linux, Android) My phone has Google Play Services and a locked bootloader. But that's a pragmatic decision, since I rely on apps that require attestation (Banking, etc). I don't use any of the Google cloud products and host my data myself (Calendar, Contacts, Mail, Photos) in open source solutions under my sovereignty. #SelfHosted #DigitalSovereignty #FOSS #Privacy #Nextcloud #Immich #fedora

Does #Immich store photos in such a way that they can be accessed as individual files in the file system, for backups, editing in other tools, etc? #SelfHosting

Hi kids. Do you use #Immich, like me, to manage your photos (with unlimited self-hosted storage)? The web app does not have rotate and crop yet, so I hacked this today. Enjoy. https://github.com/DennisFaucher/rotatecrop #photos

...if you're migrating your photos from Apple iCloud to #Immich (or #Pixelunion) be aware that Immich will delete meta-data - and will not notify you of this. I can understand if they can't migrate all metadata (yet?), but not notifying users of this is just bad design / plain wrong of course 👎🏼

Kept having issues with Immich maxing out memory and cpu on my system, thereby crashing out my adguard home instance and dropping my network connection in the process (yes I need a secondary backup adguard instance). Luckily you can add memory/cpu limits on individual compose yamls. https://docs.immich.app/FAQ/#:~:text=Can%20I%20limit,1G #immich #docker #selfhosted

@Procrvstinvtion@infosec.exchange To me, that just freaks me out to think that Apple had all that data. If you wanted to switch, #Immich or #Lychee can also build a map with pins, and your data is safe.

Oh my gawd. Upgrading #Immich from 2 to 3 in #docker via #Dockhand is an absolute fucking nightmare. The main problem is that Dockhand stores compose files within the Dockhand container itself. But you can also have it manage stacks you made elsewhere, like with #Portainer. Unless you delete portainer, which also deleted the compose files. Then your stacks are in this limbo state where everything works, but you can't edit anything. I tried to create a new local compose file and load it into Dockhand, and that worked. Until I needed to edit it, and then it disappeared again. Because it's not saved within the dockhand container. So I can only create a new stack. And reconfigure everything and rescan all my photo directories. #homelab #selfhost

#Immich #Immich30 #SelfHosted #OpenSource #Docker #GooglePhotosAlternative #PrivacyFirst #MachineLearning #TechNews

Big day today. I'd already moved my photos off OneDrive onto local server storage and imported them into Immich. Worked with @ToniaThomas@swingset.social today to move her photos off of both OneDrive and Google Photos and onto local server storage, and imported them into Immich. t-minus a month and a half until we finally stop paying for Microsoft services / storage! (our #immich setup has it running in a docker container, with ml enabled with access to a modest gpu for processing)
