'And do you know how many oil giants have packed their bags and rushed back to drill?
'Zero.
'Why? Because the
#grassroots and
#Indigenous-led #resistance that won the political ban in the first place didn’t just change the law - they changed the culture. They created a permanent, hostile
#risk profile. Oil companies now look at New Zealand and realise their social license is completely dead. The financial and reputational risk of fighting an organised public is simply too high.
'So, while
#politicians give the
#industry a green light, the people block the path.'
