Ultimate Championship, Super Tamberi wins in Budapest too. Budapest, September 13. (Adnkronos) - Super Gimbo Tamberi in the third and final day of the Ultimate Championship of athletics in Budapest. The Olympic champion Italian athlete dominated the high jump final. After third place in Brussels in the Diamond League final, and after gold at the European Championships in Birmingham and the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, the 34-year-old Marche champion prevailed by jumping 2.37 meters, a seasonal world record. Second place went to American JuVaughn Harrison with 2.30. The champion then put on his personal show and after failing the last attempt at 2.41 he rises up and celebrates with somersaults, a lap of honor, and a run towards the stands, overtaking as usual to greet his wife, eldest daughter Camilla, and his fans. Gimbo, who came onto the stage with his traditional ‘half shave’ (‘halfshave’, his nickname), then went on to take the trophy in the award ceremony with the tricolor on his shoulders and received all the applause when his name was announced, then while raising the prize at the stadium Gianna Nannini's "Bello e impossibile" (Beautiful and Impossible) resonated. The last time Tamberi had jumped 2.37 went back to June 11, 2024 in the final of the European Championships in Rome under the watchful eye of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. The measure obtained in Budapest is the same with which he won gold (alongside Mutaz Barshim from Qatar) on August 1, 2021 at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. #Tamberi #Budapest #GimboTamberi #Italian #third #Brussels #theDiamondLeague #Birmingham #Taranto #Marche #237meters #Second #American #Camilla #SergioMattarella #MutazBarshim #Qatar #Tokyo #OlympicGameshttps://www.iltempo.it/adnkronos/2026/09/13/news/ultimate-championship-un-super-tamberi-vince-anche-a-budapest-49131193/

@reporting_GB@mastodon.social @tazgetroete@mastodon.social Super Text! Danke.

An angry middle aged white man in #Birmingham attacked several #Police officers after being prevented by the arrival of authorities from attacking a Black man he had cornered in his garden. He also threw boiling water at the Black man and a female Police officer (causing injury to both. It took multiple officers to arrest him (I'm surprised they didn't deploy Tasers, but maybe didn't have Taser trained units available) He pleaded guilty at #Court and got a 14 year sentence (will likely serve about 8-9 years inside) I couldn't find any previous for the offender, but this doesn't seem like normal behaviour at age 58 - I guess this is what these men mean by "take back are country?" #Crime #Midlandshttps://www.itv.com/news/central/2026-07-01/violent-thug-threw-boiling-water-over-police-officer-in-birmingham

#FollowTheMoney 🧵 11/n Another key area money flows away from are local councils and social services and, therefore, the young and, again, community. In Birmingham, whose council declared bankruptcy in 2023, provisions for children will be cut by £52m in 2024-25 and £63m in 2025-26; youth services by £2.3m; and eleven community centres are being sold off.
