Harry e Meghan hanno accusato Tom Bower, autore di una nuova biografia della famiglia reale britannica, di "teoria del complotto e melodramma". In alcuni estratti del libro, pubblicati dal Times, Bower afferma che la regina Camilla avrebbe confidato a un'amica che Meghan Markle aveva "fatto il lavaggio del cervello" al principe Harry. Scrive inoltre che Meghan è diventata un "elemento di divisione" ed è stata vista dal Principe di Galles e da Kate Middleton, Principessa del Galles, come una "minaccia".
Un portavoce del Duca e della Duchessa di Sussex ha dichiarato che Bower "ha da tempo oltrepassato il limite tra critica e ossessione". In una nota rilasciata ieri, la coppia ha affermato: "Si tratta di una persona che ha dichiarato pubblicamente: 'la monarchia dipende di fatto dall'eliminazione dei Sussex dal nostro Stato', un'affermazione che parla da sé". "Ha costruito la sua carriera elaborando teorie sempre più complesse su persone che non conosce e che non ha mai incontrato", hanno aggiunto Harry e Meghan, come riporta la Bbc, "chi è interessato ai fatti cercherà altrove; chi invece è alla ricerca di teorie del complotto e melodrammi assurdi sa esattamente dove trovarlo".
