Our Goldman Sachs prime minister Mark Carney has been talking about implementing austerity measures to 'help' the Canadian economy. In fact austerity only ever helps the profits of the capital class at the expense and suffering of the rest of us. Italian economist Clara Mattei: “Capitalism has been imposed on us by a tiny elite since the beginning. Liberal democracy is really only a superficial façade. Research shows that growth-oriented strategies accompanied by redistribution policies are the most promising path to recovery across the Global South. Question: so what is it like living in the 6th richest/largest economy in the world? CNN: “The poorest fifth of the population are now much poorer [in the UK] than most of the poorest countries in central and eastern Europe,” says @MyStephanomics. “They would be better off in quite poor countries in the European Union.” After 14 years of #tory and 1 year of #Labour #austerity, UK families now are at the spending level of Slovakia and are set to decline to below Poland in 2-3 years.
