In fact austerity only ever helps the profits of the capital class at the expense and suffering of the rest of us. Question: so what is it like living in the 6th richest/largest economy in the world? CNN: “The poorest fifth of the population are now much poorer [in the UK] than most of the poorest countries in central and eastern Europe,” says @MyStephanomics. “They would be better off in quite poor countries in the European Union.” After 14 years of #tory and 1 year of #Labour #austerity, UK families now are at the spending level of Slovakia and are set to decline to below Poland in 2-3 years.
