When I reminded him that you have to be in the European Union to enjoy the benefits of it, he shouted "do you think I'm stupid". I declined to answer for obvious reasons. #brexit

Two regions have done well out of Brexit:

Northern Ireland, which has remained more integrated with the EU economy than the rest of the UK has seen its economy (measured by regional value added per person) increase more than any other region;
Rotterdam and surrounding environs, which have seen a major increase in warehousing by UK firms seeking to keep their stock/products within the EU.

Not sure either of those appeared on the side of a red bus….

Two obvious trends from Thursday's elections: The Fascist Frog & ReformUK Ltd have gained most in areas where the Brexit vote was most evident; The Green Party of England & Wales has done best where voters are younger. (Given that the Brexit vote itself was quite strongly age-determined a decade ago, we might conclude that the GPEW is in a better demographic position than Reform?) #politics #Brexit

Not sure how much it's a case of women being more liberal than men over issues like immigration. I suspect it’s more that they understand that their own rights are at risk if they back illiberal trends. During the run up to the Brexit referendum I heard some people from ethnic minorities express hostility to the EU and some migrants. But they voted Remain because they perceived the Brexiteers as hostile to them too. Complacency about this is dangerous. There is usually a weak spot. The political lesbians who found themselves marginalised in the lesbian community became the vanguard of the anti-trans camp. s It doesn't say one single currency, nor one economic policy, nor one social policy. It says one (free) market, which I agree with. How sad that the morons (read Boris Johnson, and Conservatives) that negotiated this decided that #Brexit was to get rid of everything, including the tariff and import restriction free EU market. This single thing has resulted in the UK having no reasonable, discernible benefit from #Brexit.
