@sizeofvoid@bsd.network the standard response might be "wifibox", but this is not an out-of-the-box experience. https://www.freshports.org/net/wifibox/ #FreeBSD #Qualcomm #WiFi

I accidentally came across this #MediaTek #MT7601U #WiFi driver for #NetBSD on GitHub: https://github.com/MakwanaVihas/gsoc_2k22 but it seems long abandoned. I wonder if someone knows how to use it. I actually have such a USB WiFi dodge, and since the #iwm driver works on and off for my Intel 8260 card on NetBSD I think I can give this a try maybe. #RunBSD #BSD #Unix

Your hotel Wi-Fi may be legit, but the gateway behind it might not be. Hackers are compromising hotel and conference Wi-Fi gateways to redirect business travelers and employees to fake Microsoft 365 login pages, stealing credentials and authorization tokens. It's #backupfriday and I just collected a package with some 10 Gb network gear - it is a bit early as the installers only finished the cable trays in the building this week, and there is still some digging to be done until the building is fiber-connected, and after that my apartment has to be connected as well... Unfortunately the access point I ordered is advertised as having at 10 Gb ethernet port, but on the box it says it only has 2.5 Gb, so I'll likely have to return it. If you have any recommendations for #wifi accesspoints that have #10 GbE, I'm all ears. Do I need my local network to be 10 Gb ethernet when I am upgrading from the venerable copper connection, currently yielding at whopping 40 Mb down and 10 Mb up, to fiber? You're right, I don't. But since one of the ISPs is advertising 5 Gb over the fiber and as I am upgrading (/able to upgrade) for the first time in 10-15 years, why not try how the maximum speed feels? I don't want the LAN to be the bottleneck, so 10 Gb it is.

Your router's admin password might be sitting in a random Reddit comment right now. I proved it. Captured a WPA2 handshake, cracked it, then found the real admin password buried in a years-old Reddit thread after every official default failed. Full attack chain from capture, cracking, OSINT, lateral movement to hardening the router against the CISA Project Upskill checklist. 🚀 Ah, the noble quest to understand how #satellites take a fiery plunge back to Earth. Meanwhile, the only thing crashing here is the #server hosting the article 😅. Forbidden? More like #forbidden #knowledge, because the details are as elusive as a #WiFi signal in a lead box 📡. https://spectrum.ieee.org/space-debris-atmosphere-burn-up #technology #space #exploration #crash #HackerNews #ngated
