I still can't believe what I am hearing here, a #ZXSpectrum demo in under 13k which plays sampled music of a Kraftwerk song, in it's entirety. How is this magic done? You can read it here: https://stevewetherill.substack.com/p/chapter-10-the-future-that-never-was Note for nerds: The video here is captured at 25 fps, and since the game itself runs at 50 fps, the flicker visible here is due to quantization of the multiplexed weapon rendering (player weapons/enemy weapons were rendered on alternate frames). Also, in the video, depending on which frames were dropped by the 25 fps capture, some weapons will be dropped altogether. It looks great on a real CRT with real phosphor decay characteristics! #RetroGaming #GameDev #Memoir #ZXSpectrum

Had an old Sinclair ZX Spectrum replica sitting around (a modern Bluetooth replica one, made by Elite) so I decided to frame it! Just used a sticky Velcro on the back so it can easily be removed without damage, if I ever use it again. I put a loading screen background in there, too. I reckon it looks pretty good! 🤓 #retrocomputing #zxspectrum #art (Edited: Uploaded the correct image file this time!)

I was finally able to correct my emulator, ZenZX, to make it work with ZX Spectrum +3 floppy discs which weren't so floppy. With many thanks to @FromTheFourthPlanet@mas.to for her wonderful emulator, SpecIde, I learned massively from her generous gift and her deep knowledge of the machinery involved. https://github.com/MartianGirl/SpecIde

Now I'm able to load The Artist II by Ocean Software from a DSK image. I wasn't able to draw f** s** using its keyboard layout. Here's a dodgy invader for you.

My journey with SID and the Z80 started way, way back in 2002, working out how to get it to play happily when connected to a fast Zilog Z80 bus on the SAM Coupe, rather than the MOS6510 it was designed for. 2003 saw the first commercial version of my SID Interface for the SAM Coupe. It's had a few tweaks in the years since and is still available. In 2020 I was asked if the interface would work on the RC2014 (Thanks Shiela!). Replied no, but then a few weeks later, yes!, having redesigned the interface in a version specifically for the RC2014 bus and integrating an interrupt controller for 50/60/100Hz - ideal for use with other soundchips too! This version has also had a few tweaks over the last six years since release, currently on v1.3. Can't add photos due to the 'quote' so will add a reply to this post with photos...
