There are many good books and resources on Z80 Assembly but this programming tutorial by Patai Gergely is valuable for a couple of reasons. Gergely last worked on this in 2004 when people still cared about good work. And it covers material beyond the basics such as simple data structures and programming techniques. @tomshardware@mastodon.online From my experience in the 1990's, the 8 bit #Z80 microprocessor was the heart of most of the PLC's that ran production lines. With zero failures. No stress, workers got their paychecks.

Folks here looking for new DIP CPUs know about the NEC V20, right? Pin compatible with 8088, but runs Z80 code. Dunno if it will do that from-the-socket. RTFM datasheet. No idea who makes these though the new 8088 laptops sold on AliExpress all use them, so probably still made... #retrocomputing #i8088 #z80
