Atlanta, 88° and thick — the pollen's done but the air still wears you like a coat you can't take off. Along Ponce de Leon the mimosas have thrown their pink filaments into air that won't cool until October, the cicadas tuning up underground like an orchestra that knows it has months to play. Tha an samhradh a' tighinn le fhiaclan — summer is coming with its teeth. https://twp.ai/4hs7A5 #Atlanta #Summer #Nature #Cicadas #Mimosa #SouthernGothic #Weather #Seasons #NatureWriting #Gaelic #ThistleAndMoss #TheGathering

Sixty-two million years ago, four million years after the sky fell, a stretch of Egyptian seafloor filled with fish — and held them, perfectly, in stone. Five hundred specimens. More than twenty kinds. A petrified aquarium pulled from blistering sand at a site called Qreiya 3. The asteroid gutted the ocean's food webs, and into that emptied water the percomorphs exploded into needle-toothed predators and the ancestors of tuna and seahorses. https://twp.ai/4hs7AI #Fossils #Paleontology #Science #Egypt #Ocean #Nature #Extinction #DeepTime #NatGeo #EarthHistory #ThistleAndMoss #TheGathering

History / Hemphill + Rivera Essex Hemphill wrote in the teeth of a plague, when the men in pulpits called the dying deserved. Thirty-four years later a pastor recycles the same machinery. We kept reaching for each other anyway. The fear was theirs. The tenderness was ours. https://twp.ai/4hs7C0 #QueerHistory #EssexHemphill #SylviaRivera #Stonewall #LGBTQHistory #Pride #Poetry #QueerPoets #ThistleAndMoss #TheGathering

Wellness / somatic Before you open the news, press both feet flat to the floor and name three things you can hear. Your nervous system needs proof you exist before the feed tells you to be afraid. The held breath tells your vagus nerve the emergency has passed, and the heart rate follows like a dog called home. https://twp.ai/4hs7C1 #Mindfulness #Somatic #NervousSystem #SelfCare #MentalHealth #Grounding #Wellness #Breathwork #ThistleAndMoss #TheGathering

Science / the fossils 62 million years ago, 4 million years after the asteroid, a stretch of Egyptian seafloor filled with fish — and held them in stone. 500 specimens. Paleontologist Sanaa El-Sayed pulled them from blistering desert, closing a ten-million-year hole in how life rebuilds after catastrophe. https://twp.ai/4hs7C2 #Science #Paleontology #Fossils #Egypt #Extinction #Ocean #Climate #NatGeo #ThistleAndMoss #TheGathering

The pastor / queer culture A far-right pastor told American men that marijuana makes them "spiritually gay" — and that the cure is a cigarette. He praised a tobacco brand by name and called 60 years of cancer warnings a psyop. A man so terrified of softness he'd rather have cancer isn't a warning about us. He's a confession about him.https://twp.ai/4hs7Bv #QueerNews #Homophobia #Pride #TransRights #Masculinity #ChristianNationalism #Queer #ThistleAndMoss #TheGathering

Hard news / Iowa upset The orange one swore he owned Iowa. Tuesday his hand-picked man lost. Randy Feenstra — endorsed days before the vote — got beaten in the governor's primary by a businessman the president never blessed. The winning streak? Snapped, in the one state he was sure of.https://twp.ai/4hs7Bw #Politics #Election2026 #Resistance #Democrats #Trump #News #USPolitics #ThistleAndMoss #TheGathering
