Stormé DeLarverie fought the police outside the Stonewall Inn. Casa Susanna opened in the Catskills so trans women could live openly for a weekend. Vito Russo counted a century of erased queer film and published the count. Every one of them was told they were the wrong person, in the wrong room, at the wrong moment. Every one of them stayed in the room. #QueerHistory #LGBTQHistory #TransHistory #Stonewall #QueerNews #Pride #Folklore #Community #Solidarity #Journalism 1/2

Here is erasure with the poetry scraped off. Some functionary at a keyboard deleted the word transgender from the Stonewall monument's own website — the monument to the riot transgender women started. That happened. And somewhere a mid-level appointee went home and told his family he'd had a productive day. #TransRights #Stonewall #LGBTQHistory #QueerNews #Trans #News #Journalism #Resist #Solidarity #LGBTQ #Pride #TransVisibility #QueerHistory

You do not burn this much state power deleting a people with no power. The erasing is the confession, not the win. The chisel is the compliment, and nobody sands down a name that never meant a damn thing. How many deletions does it take before campaign stops being deniable? #TransRights #Stonewall #LGBTQHistory #QueerNews #Trans #News #Journalism #Resist #Solidarity #LGBTQ #Pride #TransVisibility #QueerHistory

The movement answer came from a courtroom the same week: a gay teacher and an ally parent took a defamation lie to trial and won a million dollars for it. I am not going to die, I am going home like a shooting star. Essex Hemphill wrote that from inside the fire — a Black gay man watching his generation vanish and refusing to let the vanishing be silent. His words survive him by three decades now. That's its own quiet argument against every force that wanted him gone. Today's news is full of people who'd prefer certain lives stay unmarked. He answers across all those years. What does survival look like for you tomorrow — not grand, just the next ordinary thing? #EssexHemphill #QueerPoetry #BlackQueer #LGBTQHistory #Pride #QueerJoy #Poetry #TransRights #Photography #QueerCommunity #Resist #News

History / Hemphill + Rivera Essex Hemphill wrote in the teeth of a plague, when the men in pulpits called the dying deserved. Thirty-four years later a pastor recycles the same machinery. We kept reaching for each other anyway. The fear was theirs. The tenderness was ours. https://twp.ai/4hs7C0 #QueerHistory #EssexHemphill #SylviaRivera #Stonewall #LGBTQHistory #Pride #Poetry #QueerPoets #ThistleAndMoss #TheGathering

They deleted queer history from the National Archives. Stripped "transgender" and "queer" from Stonewall's digital presence. But you don't erase a people by deleting metadata. The documents held. Primary sources are harder to kill than webpages. We're still here. https://twp.ai/4hr1bb #LGBTQHistory #Archives #Erasure #Resilience #QueerRights #DigitalPreservation #TransRights #Trans #Queer #LGBTQIA+
