🎨🇺🇸 Georgia O'Keeffe's THE FLAG (1918) is a striking watercolor painted during World War I. Now in the public domain in the United States, it's free to view, download, and reuse. It's one of many fascinating items we're highlighting from the Internet Archive's collections as America marks its 250th anniversary. journalists, I am BEGGING you to interview archivists from places other than the Internet Archive. The IA is cool, we all love it, but the perspective of IA is not representative, they are really an outlier in the #archives world. ++ The IA is just one institution doing #webarchiving among many. The NDSA has tracked web archiving activities since 2011 and is a great place to find more #archivist experts on this topic. Some great folks are named here: https://www.ndsa.org/2026/06/03/it's-here-the-2026-ndsa-web-archiving-survey.html

I wonder if there's anybody out there who might be visiting the National Archives, Kew in the next couple of weeks, or perhaps so close you could pop in without much bother? I'm in north Wales, and only need to look at one page from one document, the location of which within the library, even without help from staff, ought to be easy to find. I can't justify the high cost of my own in-person visit. If you can help, I can provide details of the 1898 document in question 🙏 #history #archives
