It's been a long ass three days. Pa is recovering well, graduating from icu to icu ish, tomorrow to regular care, he will be monitored until Wednesday and then sent home. Depending on how he handles this first stent, two more will be placed, maybe no bypass. He's got luck on his side, many visitors. And I can see the toll it's taking on him, the coughing, I forgot about the coughing, watching his heart rate spike from simply rolling over. He will recover, this I can see, but nothing is really the same, change is and will be the only constant. But he is HUNGRY and eating easily and nurses quip that he never stops talking so everything is OK. And oh, my heart is so tender and full. The synchronicities experienced, getting the call while traveling through the city district of the hospital he was being transferred to, beating the ambulance to the hospital so that when those doors opened Pa lifted his head to see his son right there ready for him. The Calm, the simple calm we both felt through it all. We prayed in our ways and those prayers were answered by a hundred tiny miracles. Opening my email to find that three of you had sent us the funds to coast through this experience has touched me and my husband in ways that i can't even fully articulate. Heart attacks are never convenient and the unexpected travel of it all had dropped us into the Bangkok heat without even a change of clothes. So these funds have lifted us into hotels, delivered us to our destinations and literally fed and clothed us. Crying, but in a heart full of gratitude way, thank you!!! Not long ago, I left a role I had every reason to think would be a dream fit.

On the way out, I got an unexpectedly kind gesture (pictured). I'm taking the high road, so no story-time about the job - just what I'm keeping from it:

  • What burnout actually is, not the buzzword version.
  • What autistic burnout actually does - not "tired", but losing skills you've had for years.
  • How loud unmanaged micromanagement gets, until it's the only voice left in your head.
  • That a body keeps its own record, even when you stop checking in on it.
  • What it's like to need real pharmaceutical support - and watch it stop being enough on its own.
  • How good "before" really was.

None of this makes me bitter. It makes me determined.

Recovery starts now, and it's going to take a while - I've made peace with that part.

Thanks to your prayers, support, and generous donations, the doctors were able to save Diyaa's leg from amputation. There are no words that can truly express our gratitude. You gave my brother a second chance, and we will never forget your kindness. 🙏💙 However, our journey is far from over. Diyaa's condition is still unstable. He remains in the intensive care unit under close medical supervision. He has undergone one surgery that successfully saved his foot, but he still needs another operation, along with ongoing medication, treatment, and specialized medical care. Diyaa has been in the hospital for weeks, and today we are still waiting and praying for him to wake up from his coma. Every moment, we ask God to open his eyes and bring him back to us safely.
