  1. Jahrestag der Ermordung von Malcolm X

Malcolm Little wurde am 19. Mai 1925 in Omaha Nebraska geboren. Er war als Jugendlicher in verschiedenen Pflegeheimen und wurde 1946 wegen Diebstahls und Einbruchs zu acht bis zehn Jahren Gefängnis verurteilt. Im Knast trat er der Nation of Islam bei und nahm den Namen Malcolm X an.

1952 auf Bewährung raus, wurde er zu einem der einflussreichsten Führer der Organisation, und vom FBI überwacht. In den 1960er Jahren löste er sich von der Nation of Islam. Nach der Hadsch nach Mekka und einer Reise durch Afrika distanzierte er sich öffentlich von der Nation of Islam, gründete die islamische Muslimische Moschee, Inc. (MMI) und die Panafrikanische Organisation der Afroamerikanischen Einheit (OAAU).

1964 besuchte X das Flüchtlingslager Khan Younis in Gaza, wo er sich unter anderem mit religiösen Führern und in Kairo Mitglieder der Palästinensischen Befreiungsorganisation traf.

Malcolm X wurde am  21. Februar 1965 auf der Bühne im Audubon Ballroom in Manhattan von Nation of Islam-Mitgliedern erschossen.

„Wenn ich von Schwarzen spreche, meine ich nicht-weiße Menschen. Schwarze, braune, rote oder gelbe Hautfarben.“
