Season's Scammings 🔅 🎄 We've been tracking a cluster of personal loan phishing sites that work hard to look like independent lenders — different brands, different domains, even deliberately varied infrastructure. Look closely enough, though, and the seams show. Similar underlying templates. The same technology stack. And passive DNS tying their thousands of domains back to the same operator. The sites present as loan applications. Name, address, employment details, financial history. And then, at the final step: your Social Security Number. No real company name. No regulatory disclosure. Just a form — and your most sensitive personal data sent off to who-knows-where for who-knows-what. A significant portion of the domains are seasonal — Christmas cash, Thanksgiving funds, Black Friday loans. Financially stretched consumers, at exactly the moment they're most likely to reach for a quick fix. ⛔ mychristmaswallet[.]com ⛔ cashzillaloans[.]com ⛔ personalreliefwallet[.]com ⛔ thanksgivingcash-5k[.]com ⛔ christmascashhelp-direct[.]com #dns #threatintel #threatintelligence #cybercrime #cybersecurity #infosec #infoblox #infobloxthreatintel #phishing #scam

Vorsicht an WLAN-Hotspots! ... New. Cisco: “Keep going, bro. You’ve got this!” A data-driven look at how adversaries are weaponizing AI https://blog.talosintelligence.com/keep-going-bro-youve-got-this-a-data-driven-look-at-how-adversaries-are-weaponizing-ai/ @TalosSecurity@mstdn.social More: "Talos said guardrails 'did not provide much protection', and that it encountered no sophisticated encoding or evasion techniques. Where guardrails did engage, they achieved little, and the pattern held across models and platforms rather than affecting any single vendor." Interisle's malware analyses for the April – June 2026 reporting period are now available at the Cybercrime Information Center. There, you can find rankings of the Top-level Domains (TLDs), Domain Registrars, and Hosting operators (by ASN) with the most malware activity. We also post aggregate records of all operators that met our minimum criteria for malware reported in CSV format at the Cybercrime Information Center’s records repository. https://interisle.substack.com/p/malware-trends-april-june-2026 #malware #cybercrime #cybersecurity #botnet #endpointmalware #attackware #iotmalware

Returning readers will remember my "Eighteen years of greytrapping" piece (https://nxdomain.no/~peter/eighteen_years_of_greytrapping.html or tracked https://bsdly.blogspot.com/2025/08/eighteen-years-of-greytrapping-is.html and may also remember that it has numbers and graphs. It's now been more like 19 years of the activity, and the numbers and graphs are refreshed as of end of July. #spam #antispam #spamd #openbsd #greylisting #greytrapping #security #cybercrime #cybersecurity #smtp #email

It’s True. We Underreport the Volumes of Resources That Cybercriminals Use We’ve noted in our Interisle landscape studies that our figures underreport the numbers of domain names, IP addresses, and URLs, and free web site user accounts that cybercriminals have misused for phishing, malware and spam. Everyone underreports. Today, I’ll explain what Interisle takes into consideration when we say that our research underreports certain figures. https://interisle.substack.com/p/its-true-we-underreport-the-volumes #cybercrime #dnsabuse #phishing #malware #spam

Recently, East Java police cybercrime unit arrested a cybercrime actor that broke access to around 260 Indonesia's websites and 1570 websites globally. The website acess then sold the access credentials to a buyer to promote online gambling. The threat actor gained access to the victim website by uploading malicious files (I am assuming this is a shell script). Src: detiknews #indonesia #cybersecurity #cybercrime #onlinegambling

Phishing Landscape 2026 – Who were the Most-Phished Brands? Phishing attacks take advantage of well-known brands (either in the phishing content or in the domain names used as part of phishing attacks. In this post, we show the brands that were most often impersonated, either in the content of the phishing attack, a URL, or as part of a domain name used in the phishing attack. #dnsabuse #phishing #cybercrime #brand #fakesite #impersonation https://interisle.substack.com/p/phishing-landscape-2026-who-were
