fyi:

i transitioned 2004-2006
it included trips to thailand for my surgeries, first for FFS, second five months later for SRS + AM
during both trips i was with many others going thru the same journey, also there for the same surgeries
both times, the large majority were into blokes, already had or otherwise hoped to find good relationships with blokes
two of them, first trip, actually were already "escorts" for blokes, & believed their business would further improve once they were post-op [i regarded these women with a mix of awe, fascination, & repugnance -- they were a part of life utterly unknown to me]
in my 2nd trip iirc i was the only one who liked women not men
in my first trip there was a small handful of us only into women, but we were certainly very outnumbered by those into men
even in the early phases of my transition, a year or 18 months before surgeries, when i was attending support groups, everyone else there was into blokes, i was the only one who had zero interest, even antipathy, to blokes
we've fallen out of touch long ago now, but i knew another woman who was exclusively into women early in her transition, but once she was "out the other side" she entirely flipped over & was only interested in men. i mention her to you simply to illustrate that if you're still early in your journey there's just no point trying to "set rules" for yourself; you simply cannot predict how "future you" will feel once you're endocrinologically female, & possibly also surgically. just go with the flow...

If they don't exist in your country then get them via DIY HRT. DIY HRT community on Lemmy, and #diyhrt hashtag on Mastodon will help you. 4) Am I passing? https://troontraits.web.app 5) I'm not safe! If you're under 18, ask for help from social services. You're allowed to fake the situation too, starting HRT before 18 is very important. Do whatever it takes but just do it! If it's your country that sucks, then contact here @trans_rescue@mastodon.social You're allowed to manipulate a therapist to get yourself out of your shitty home if you're going for social services path. You have one life, and don't ruin it for people who don't care about you. Life is cruel, and it doesn't forgive mistakes. 6) Any other advice? Stick to libre software, and encrypted software. Stay away from mainstream if possible. Dig deep everyday. Learning never stops! I would personally make my transition permanent by getting orchiectomy or whatever you have. Also updating your ID and documents will help too. As a trans person, your only friends are other trans people even if you're cis-passing. It’s too late to stop me. #ThingsYouCantUnsay #trans #transition I already did it. I’m beyond their checkpoints. They can still kill me. They can still cage me. They can still martyr me. And I haven’t reach the end of my journey. But they can’t stop me from self-actualizing. They, here a pronoun in its multiple and nameless form, affirming no one. The agents of the patriarchy. Everyday people, when they act from the internalized patriarchal norms they’ve been inundated with. They, who declare me to be their enemy. They, whom I reluctantly accept as my enemies. I’m a binary woman, and I walked heedlessly into a backscatter x-ray machine today, physically transformed by the banality and wonder of hormones, the magic and sparkle of fashion, and the skill and compassion of a trans surgeon. I no longer fear that my body will be misunderstood as a different gender. I am a woman, though. I certainly fear that my body will be violated by patriarchy, as all people ought to fear. Backscatter x-rays are a crystalized shard of patriarchal violence. They enforce rigid gendered forms and violate the bodily autonomy of everyone who walks through them. Whatever veils and rules may ostensibly protect the privacy of the victims, the core function of those machines is to classify everyone into acceptable or suspect body shapes. I happen to be affirmed by my body being a shape that is, coincidentally, on the approved list of shapes. I’m grateful to fate for this privilege, but my outrage for others simmers. This is not how we should live. And so I stride, at first slowly, as my suture-lines knit together, careful not to pop a stitch, and in time with stronger steps, through the airport security checkpoint and its representation as the last gate of my medical transition and towards clearings, small points of higher ground, places to shine. I’m a walking demonstration of the possible, and I want people to know it. I’m not looking for the tallest places around - I don’t want to pit myself against that amount of attention. I try to have a realistic understanding of my limits, and I want my fire to last. The longer I burn, the more people can see me and learn from me. But I do plan to burn. I’ll not run and hide; I will burn my brightest here, in the culture I was raised in. It is here I’ll stand, confident that my life can mean something if I live out loud, with pride and self-esteem. 1/2 (please boost both if you boost)

#Transition is for #trans people the process in which they stop acting. We've been handed one of two scripts (colour coded), and it was the wrong one - think Vin Diesel doing MacBeth, hilarious for a stunt, really not something you can keep up for a living. And then we... stop doing that. At least that's what it should be. Instead, often enough, we get the prospect of passing. Dressing a certain way. Picking clothes that will hide certain features. Stop acting one way, and starting to act another. No. Just stop acting. You're not leaving one cookie cutter that relentlessly amputated you to jump into the next one that'll do the same. Stop acting. Unlearn the acts you've learned. That takes time. Approach what you have been all along, and draw your actions from that. Don't take something that is meant to be liberation to put yourself into a different cage. This isn't just for trans people, though. Stop acting. Seriously. Anyway, that's how I ended up as a vaguely fem goblin.

this essay was linked within an interesting thread i saw several hours ago, but which [essay] i've only just read now, whilst the thread is lost, buried, deep within the timeline somewhere. https://juliaserano.medium.com/why-are-amab-trans-people-denied-the-closet-7fd5c740ce30 there's little i can relate to in Julia's interesting & well-considered #trans privilege piece. she passes, i don't [despite the absolute fortune i spent on all the ops, therapies, consultations, pharma, electro, et al during the three years of my #transition 2004-2006]. she lives amongst society, i don't [hidden alone at home since 2010 in unresolvable devastation of not passing]. she has views of the various turf [& terf] internecine wars, i don't specifically, other than sadness that we've indulged in such spurious battles within, when the actual enemy is without.
