"The protests were coordinated by #HumansFirst, co-founded by a former leader of the modern-day #TeaParty. She compares growing opposition to data centers to the right-wing populist movement that emerged in 2009 to protest what it saw as excessive taxation and government overreach.

More than 40 civil society groups across #Australia are calling on #universities to protect the #right to #peaceful #protest and #academic #freedom on #campuses as vice-chancellors appear at the royal commission into #antisemitism.
The statement, signed by organisations including the #HumanRightsLawCentre (HRLC), #AmnestyInternational Australia and the #AustralianDemocracyNetwork, expressed “grave #concern at the increasing adoption by universities across Australia of measures that #restrict protest and related student and staff #political #speech”.
A senior lawyer at the HRLC, #ReginaFeatherstone, said various anti-protest policies have had a “chilling effect on protest and #dissent on #campus”.
The president of the #NationalTertiaryEducationUnion, which signed the statement, Dr #AlisonBarnes, said universities “should be places where staff and students can #speakfreely and organise without fear of #surveillance, #discrimination or other #adverse consequences”.
On Wednesday, the interim vice-chancellor of the #UniversityOfMelbourne, Prof #GlynDavis, said #ProPalestine #SitIns on campus led to the institution “quite sharply” changing its protest policies and that further restrictions could arise.

The prompt abandonment of Viktor Orbán but the global Right & their quick shift to 'supporting' Péter Magyar after the Hungarian elections tells us two (contrasting) things:
There is little loyalty in the New Right; whoever it looks contingent to support gets it with little looking in the rearview mirror;
But equally the Right may be also confident that Péter Magyar is one of their won in any case....

To #force #external #might into #internal #right is a fundamental #crime against the #nature of #free #ebb and #flow of any #purpose brought into #being for any #reason at all.
This is what #will #create a #rift between any #concept where a #bridge can directly #form through.

When it comes to #guns they more often than not are used to harm people, statistically so. With that being said, I have always been an #advocate for #self defense. Yes, bar none. Defending and protecting and securing self livelihood is an inherent #human #right that shall not be infringed. By anyone, or anything. I have friends who are #furry #bisexual #multinational #international #trans #gay #straight #qweer and #proud to be who they are in their own #identity #ethos and I encourage that.
