People sometimes ask me what I fear.
It isn't monsters. It isn't failure. It isn't even hardship. I've survived enough of that to know it passes.
What I truly fear is losing my agency.
I fear not being free to decide my own path. I fear other people making decisions about my life without ever stopping to ask what I need, what I want, or who I am. I fear being pushed, coerced, or cornered into living someone else's idea of a life.
Freedom, to me, isn't doing whatever I please. It's having the dignity to choose. To say "yes" because I mean it, and "no" because I mean that too.
Take away that choice, and you don't merely inconvenience me.
You take away a piece of who I am.
