Changing our diets and ways of producing food is crucial to combat climate change and increase human health. A key change is lessening the impact of meat and animal products like eggs and dairy. 🧵 #FAO #animalProduction #animalWelfare #food #animal #animals #welfare #deforestation #beef #chicken #poultry #imports #exports #agriculture #freeTrade #eggs #milk #diet #dairy #publicHealth #OneHealth #inflation #GreenHouseForcing #emissions #trade

We’re in the midst of a mass #extinction event – caused by humans. So how do we feed the world while also saving the world’s animals? By changing our #diet going #plantbased or even better #Vegan! 🥦 #BoycottPalmOil 🌴🚫 #Boycott4Wildlife @palmoildetectives@mastodonapp.uk https://palmoildetectives.com/2021/08/04/a-global-juggling-act-feeding-the-world-saving-species/?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=Palm+Oil+Detectives&utm_campaign=publer

Why has the UK banned imports of French and Italian cheeses? The UK has banned imports of raw milk cheeses from France and Italy on what it says are safety grounds – but the same cheeses are still on sale around Europe. Bad news for UK residents who like iconic French cheeses such as artisan-produced brie, roquefort and reblochon or Italian class… #dining #cooking #diet #food #Frenchcheese https://www.diningandcooking.com/2747499/why-has-the-uk-banned-imports-of-french-and-italian-cheeses-1594/

looking for weight loss advice 🔄✅, mention of medical fatphobic gatekeeping of transgender surgery Hover or focus to reveal Sensitive
@LunaDragofelis@void.lgbt Have a think about whether you're an abstainer or a moderator: https://gretchenrubin.com/articles/abstainer-vs-moderator/ When it comes to food, I'm an abstainer. I find it easier to fast sometimes and eat my fill at other times than to live on half-portions of pigeon food all the time. I had good results with the 5:2 #diet — lost a lot of weight and kept it off for about 15 years. (I've now stopped fasting because I've reached an age where muscle-loss is a threat.) #Fasting is not for children, cis women of childbearing age, people who've ever had an eating disorder, or people who've been told not to fast for medical reasons. Fasting is not a substitute for a healthy diet or moderate exercise. You need those too. https://gretchenrubin.com/articles/abstainer-vs-moderator/ The other piece of advice I'd give is to wean yourself off junk food. I did it. It took me years. In an average week, I now consume no crisps, biscuits, cakes, sweets, chocolate, takeaway meals, white bread, pies, fizzy drinks or fruit juice. This stuff is engineered to be addictive and to make you crave more of it. It's a drug. It's adversarial. It manipulates your innate drives to make you keep eating products that don't satisfy you and don't nourish you. Cut out one form of junk food at a time and replace it with something healthy and non-addictive. It will be hard. You'll relapse. But you'll be healthier for doing it, and in all sorts of ways, not just reduced weight. Obviously, the less junk food you eat, the better, but you'll start to benefit as soon as you start cutting it out. You say in your message that you don't like healthier foods. Neither did I. Junk food is engineered to by hyper-palatable. That's part of what makes it addictive. But you won't beat the bulge while eating foods that are designed to make you crave more. And sometimes, as with vegetables, you just need to get it done so that you can move on with something else. I think anyone who claims to enjoy vegetables is lying. Don't tell anyone I said that. I eat vegetables anyway. Realistically, if you don't do so already, you're going to have to learn how to cook. You can't eat healthily from takeaways and restaurants. One easy way to start is to replace white #bread with wholemeal and white #pasta with wholegrain. They have more micronutrients and they cause less inflammation (think: joint pain), but they also keep you full for longer so that you don't go back to the snack cupboard two hours after eating. What else? Oh, yeah, if you drink #alcohol, cut it down as much as possible. It's just empty calories. The less booze you drink, the faster you'll lose weight. And #walk more. Find ways to get more footsteps into your day. Get a cheap smartwatch and gamify the experience if you think it'll help. (Using Gadgetbridge rather than the manufacturer's app will help preserve your privacy.) Finally, try social pressure, because it'll help to keep you on the straight and narrow. One person here documents her weight loss, complete with charts. You could do the same. Ah — I keep thinking of one more thing! Consider a #slimming group. Mrs Wife has had good results with Slimming World. I'm sure there are others that are equally good. All that ra-ra isn't for me, but she's neurotypical and it works well for her. Good luck! Let us know how you get on. #WeightLoss

I don't like posting news, but if you aren't already aware of UPFs' health impact and how it is being manipulated from being exposed - this very recent report details how the big corporations follow the tobacco playbook to keep cold cuts, peanut butter, white bread, frozen meals, biscuits, crisps, and soft drinks on shelf. (yes they are mostly, if not all, ultra processed food ie recycled industrial waste) https://www.lighthousereports.com/investigation/big-food-vs-the-people/ #food #UPF #UltraProcessedFood #health #diet #news #bacon #ham #bread #peanutbutter #biscuit #crisps #snack

I added a couple of extra eggs to breakfast, I'm not getting enough protein daily, might have to buy some powder to increase more. I need at least 100g of protein a day, to sustain my lifestyle. I'm not losing weight, I'm losing muscle mass . Eating too often is time consuming. #Diet #Seniors https://www.onemedical.com/blog/diet-nutrition/best-sources-of-protein-for-older-adults/
