RE: https://flipboard.com/@gothamist/gothamist-igeoft02z/-/a-SSw6eJEgS4-jDxtlgYR_pQ%3Aa%3A3807498986-%2F0 this fucking headline: they weren't voting against extending food stamp coverage of rotisserie chickens. they had proposals to EXTEND COVERAGE TO ALL HOT, SUPERMARKET PREPARED MEALS dafuckouttahere #nyc #foodStamps #welfare #USpol UPDATE: the headline is misleading. the 3 from ny wanted to cover ALL HOT FOODS, to include vegetarians. THE MEASURE PASSED. am assuming their NO gives them leverage for introducing an amendment to expand benefits. if not, NY WILL HAVE TO SUE.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@nixCraft/116380044468638699 Microsoft Office is one of the largest #welfare programs in the world. it diverts REAL billions of dollars from the public coffers of governments, into the pockets of Bill Gates and his #EpsteinClass cronies. Brasil pays for basic universal health care and UBI for kids because it said NO to Microsoft in 2005 & moved to #linux & #LibreOffice. thanks to Trump, #Microsoft finally lost the 2nd largest economy in the European Union and the 7th largest in the world. merci a la France.

"From London to Lisbon, politicians from centre-right and centre-left parties alike had steadily eroded social programmes, fostering a sense of scarcity and creating fertile ground for the stirring up of anti-migrant sentiment." “If we were doing more, people would not feel threatened. They would be reassured that the digital and ecological transitions and globalisation will be painless because they are protected by a state that cares for them.” #UKPol #EUPol #Welfare https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/oct/21/welfare-cuts-have-fuelled-rise-of-far-right-and-populism-top-un-expert-says
