What if, we put tiny bird in bird bath? In reality, Baked Beans had just refused a mist shower (something birds often like) and instead decided to jump into the water bowl after the keepers left. #BakedBeansOwl #owl #owls #screechowl #screechowls #zoo #animals #animal #bird

For reference, here's a picture of Tony the Tawny Frogmouth getting a mist bath. He is not, in fact an owl. He is from Australia and is a type of nightjar, a family shared by whippoorwills. I adore tawny frogmouths. They look like Muppets. When they're not doing anything and want you to mind your own business, that act like a vertical log. And are very good at it. #bird #birds #nightjar #TawnyFrogmouth #zoo #animal #animals

A spectacular "marine cemetery" fossil cluster featuring a large uncoiled ammonite surrounded by smaller ammonites from the Provence region of France. The central large shell trapped and caused the collection of numerous smaller ammonite shells around it over time. Photo By: Nanette Theillaud. 🦜 NEW: Behavioral biologist Jorg Massen gave 17 Galah #Cockatoos a daily choice to fly free. The #birds almost always flew, then foraged and raised their crests more. They also showed greater #optimism about finding #walnuts after #flying. Massen sees #flight as an ethological need, tying the #research to #animal welfare that enables their natural behaviors. 👉 https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/do-birds-enjoy-flying-scientists-asked-cockatoos/ #parrots #animals #behavior #animalwelfare #ornithology #nature #science #emotions #biodiversity #zoology #biology #galah
