Quand j'étais gamin il y avait des nids d'hirondelles chez mes parents. On en voyait beaucoup virevolter au dessus de nos tête. Barn Swallow Fledgelings Even with a long lens, I aim to give new bird parents a wide berth- but I swear, this year, bird families are insisting on setting up next to me to demand their photos be taken. These swallow parents corralled their little guys my way, and I chose to believe they chose me as their noble protectorate. (Yes, I know it was really that I was near the sunny warm spot with lots of bugs to eat). Willow Flycatcher feeding Her Young A fellow bird enthusiast who was passing me on the trail commented that while it was lovely to hear the babes calling out in the trees, it would be awesome if one became visible, just for a moment. As if answering his call, out swooped the parent from one direction and the little guy from another, to feed on the bare branch in front of us for a mere moment before taking off again. Nouvelle petite installation pour aider nos amis à plumes. C'est beaucoup plus petit que les abreu-voirs dans le jardin, en attendant le voile d'ombrage ce sera un peu trop ensoleillé mais ça fera une petite guinguette à oiseaux (et à lézards, guêpes, mouches, abeilles et autres insectes) qui passent régulièrement sur le bout de terrasse. Comme je le disais dans le fil ci-dessous, un point d'eau pour la faune peut se faire très facilement. Ici c'est avec un bac de jardin (ou à ciment ou j'en sais rien). 🇫🇷 La météo humide de ces derniers jour a au moins un avantage pour les hirondelles de fenêtres et rustiques assez nombreuses cette année après plusieurs années "maigres". Je n'avais que mon téléphone et s'approcher de trop près, impossible. En bonus, le chant des oiseaux alentour. 🙂 Les hirondelles utilisent la boue pour construire leur nid. 🇬🇧 The rainy weather of recent days has at least one advantage for swallows, which are numerous this year after several "lean" years.
