I used this site which aggregates candidate endorsements to help voters determine which candidates best represent their ideals, and most closely align with their political beliefs. I've chosen the most #progressive candidates I found, based on endorsements, for the #Florida #Democratic #primary, and will drop off my ballot this week. The #Democratic Party learned all the wrong lessons from Ronald Reagan, and ever since the 1980 soft coup d'etat that installed the Republicans' senile cowboy actor in the White House as the hand-puppet of a massive assortment of right-wing propagandists and Heritage Foundation bureaucrats, the Democrats have faithfully chased after the perfectly "triangulated" imitation of just the nice parts of GOP fascism. Now THERE was a triumph of #marketing indeed! Pres. Obama was completely outmaneuvered. Faithful to the politically self-defeating "centrism" of mainstream #Democratic politics, Pres. Obama thought he'd achieved an ideal compromise by rebadging Mitt Romney's Heritage-Foundation scheme for legally compelling more U.S. denizens to sign up for corporate health #insurance. He forgot that all Republican policies only work in Republican hands. He laid an egg in full sight of the nation, playing right into Republican hands: they instantly turned face and mercilessly shredded their own plan, successfully fastening Obama's own surname onto it as a slur. I'm itching to start using a new #distro. As a recent #Linux user '#Mint' since a few months ago, I started to feel the urge to try a new distro with a new #DE. I have in mind to try #Debian with #Gnome. My search said Debian is community-driven, their #governance is #decentralised, #democratic, and more aligned with #FOSS values than other distro out there. If I want the same values, I should choose #KDEPLASMA. But, I really don't want to currently. I'm finding myself curious about Gnome ATM. I'm in despair if my combination is fit. 😅

Slave to the #system? I deliberately left the bit about Bitcoin in my #Cypherpunk Manifesto article. I’d copied it and included a link to it. It was addressed to the W3 crowd on Nostr, who see Bitcoin as the savior. Here, Bitcoin is seen as the Antichrist, facilitating the rise of fascism. Both are oversimplified analyses. That’s why I’d been hoping for a discussion, as I’m not entirely sure myself. However, both #Thiel and #Musk made their fortunes through predatory platforms, mainly via #PayPal. The most horrific things in the world happen because #BlackRock and the like speculate on food. Because the military-industrial complex is flooding the world with weapons. All without Bitcoin or crypto. There’s also the Bitcoin Africa movement, which simply doesn’t fit into the ‘scammer-hater’ narrative. Nevertheless, I think that as long as the world is ruled by #money (and it will be for a long time to come), it’s better to have decentralized money than #centralized money managed by states or companies. In Germany, they say, ‘Money doesn’t stink’. With money, you can buy flowers for your loved one or weapons to fight the enemy. The dollar and the euro are ultimately controlled by a select few.. Crypto could, if viewed positively, be #democratic. I think this is a worthwhile discussion. @benroyce@mastodon.social The chance that any Democrat will vote for a left-leaning legislation than any GOP member. Therefore, voting for a Democrat, even if they aren't left-leaning, creates a more left-leaning legislature. Voting in primaries is how you pick your candidate, once at the general, vote Democratic, regardless of issues you may have with that candidate. We can resolve those over time at the next election.
