I started with the “complicated” piece in 2021 or 2022. I finished the hand embroidery but it didn’t feel done, so I stashed it for years. I recently learned to do needle tatting and thought it would be exactly what this piece needed! That was true enough to get me to also make the “simple” piece, which was tedious because I couldn’t leave any errors at all in it. I had to frog whole lines three times. RIP Tony Hoare, whose wisdom is needed more every day. #fiberarts #embroidery #crossStitch

Request for Comment - i want to make the Becky Stern/Adafruit "Ohm Sweet Ohm" cross stitch resistor chart, except i'm not really into the sampler aesthetic, so tonight i was screwing around with various weights for circuit diagram borders and pcb trace corners. The diagram and the remaining reference flower border are from the original pattern (and will get backstitch lettering, not pictured). What works, what doesn't? #crossstitch

I've had another busy week so not much stitching progress, and Diablo IV's new expansion pack just dropped so I suspect next week I'll be saying much the same … But I am still slowly making progress with Nebamun, the stalks of the papyrus fans are getting longer, and I'll soon be transitioning into the blue of the thicket of plants (when the tomb relief was painted this was green but the green pigment has been lost over time and the cross stitch pattern is based on the art as we know it). I've finished the octopus and labelled him, and also stitched a bit more of the tree, adding the label for the Gastropods. Aaaand done! Making it with glow in the dark floss, even if it's pain in the ass, was so worth it! Around eighteen months after starting, my wife's completed the second of her king cards cross stitches, the King of Hearts. Like the first one this one is about 110,000 stitches. Two to go. Looks a bit like Star Trek's Q to us. #CrossStitch #XStitch #Craft #Crafts #StarTrek
